You might be more likely to have an 'off' when off-roading, but the speeds are generally lower and the landings are generally softer.
That depends on where you are riding! Some of the trails round here are grass/mud/gravel (so, yes - softer) but lots are rock-strewn (worse to land on than tarmac), and in some places there are precipitous drops should you lose control.

Generally slower and softer, but sometimes definitely not. I have never dared to ride down this for example; for me it is a bike hike up or down!!

I have more than adequately proved that "riding like a tw@t" can cause "offs" on both :laugh: . Gravity always wins eventually. But as you can see in my sentence, I used two "generally"s. There will always be exceptions.

I can remember descending Newlands Pass after I'd climbed it. Overcook that one you could go right over the edge. Quite scary if you think about it too much. Plenty of braking ensued on that one.
