Looks like the wheelset to go for in races on anything other than an absolutely pan flat course (or maybe a points race full of flat sprint segments)

I read it slightly differently. Still reckon Enve 8.9 are the ones to go for unless you have some longer climbs e.g. 5 minutes plus.
and I'd use the 8.9 or 7.8 for rolling routes too.
But races with >5 minute climbs are simply best avoided anyway  so maybe I don't need to buy the new 4.5 Pros?

I can't see a circumstance where I'd now use either the Enve 8.9 OR 7.8 to be honest! I'd use the DT Swiss 65s over either of those, as they are basically the same on the flat and a fair bit faster on climbs than the Enve 8.9, and faster on both flat and climbs than the Enve 7.8.

But that said, I think I'd still usually take the new Enve 4.5s over the DT Swiss 65s if the course has any climbing at all on it as they're only 4.5 seconds slower over an hour on the flat but equal fastest of ALL wheelsets on climbs where races can often split.

Oh I must be out of date then  I hadn't clocked the DT 65s at all  I vaguely remember them being launched during my break from racing

The weather pushed onto zwift this morning first time in over a month , basically a z2 ride until I got boarded on the climb finished and had a 1km smash . Checked in on zwiftpower to check my zrs ,still 391 I've not raced since March and only do the occasional effort on zwift ,does the score go down without racing ?
Bluetooth update last time I used zwift my new tablet wouldn't connect to zwift via Bluetooth and apple TV after my cursing head scratching . I discovered my tablets Bluetooth didn't work 😤. Talking to the retailer they offered a warranty replacement which meant returning the tablet which now has bank info etc so they offered a in store voucher which seemed fair enough

I just did a Sprint Workout (on the Alpe, using the Aethos )
Some things you can only do in the virtual world, but it got me about 560m towards the 2000 needed for level 1 upgrade. After the workout I turned round and descended on a TT bike. I don't have a spesh TT bike so I used the Cadex - to put a few minutes into the 6 hours needed for level 1 on that.

Need to sharpen my sprint legs for ZRL which I am going to start in C - which could be fun, but maybe not for long if I get yeeted up to B again.

I also re-signed up for Zwift last night given the weather has started to turn. Twice up the Innsbruck KOM, which I find very good for doing steady TT-like efforts. Came first in a field of one - while there were 11 D's in the pens, most of them had not read the ride description and quit as soon as they worked out how much climbing there was involved (only 5 finished the first climb). The rest were all in the wrong category (it wasn't enforced in the pens) and so got DQ'd post-race, leaving me as last one standing.

Wow [The spoiler] :notworthy:
Honestly... DON'T!!!!!!

I strenuously avoid race thread spoilers but you go and dump them here instead!

:cursing:

Moving swiftly on... I popped in here to say that a turbo test ride the other evening had to be aborted when I realised that I had developed 100% genital numbness! I could have spent a gory evening with The Eunuch Maker and been completely unable to feel what he was doing!

The saddle and position on that bike matches my other bikes so I can only think that the immovable bike was to blame. I have just fitted my tennis ball trainer feet to the Victory trainer. I will try again this evening and see how I get on.

Actually it wasn't a spoiler so no need for the over-reaction

Talking bollocks again

You're making a meal of this. It's been almost a year. Get on the damn thing and use it or you'll die of old age and it'll be pristine.

I will just continue my whinge a little bit, then change the subject!

Actually it wasn't a spoiler
It told me that Pidcock did something really special in the race today - that IS a spoiler! Instead of thinking "I wonder if anybody did anything special in today's stage" when I watched the highlights show, I found myself thinking "So, when is Pidcock going to go then?". As it turned out, it wasn't exactly what it sounded like but it was still more information than I (and probably others) wanted.

... so no need for the over-reaction
There is painful history to my reaction. I have had assorted people on CycleChat repeatedly ruin races for me by insisting on repeatedly posting spoilers in non-racing threads - big stages of the Tour de France, monuments, World Championships etc. I asked them not to do it again, to either stick to dedicated threads with "spoilers" in the title, or to put their posts in spoiler blocks like this...
Wow Tom Pidcock :notworthy:
.

[This would STILL be a spoiler...
Wow Tom Pidcock :notworthy:
... because the only Tom I would think of is the English one currently riding the Vuelta, and it would be obvious that he had done something spectacular!]

... but they refused. I was told not to visit a cycling forum if I didn't want to read the results of races. I watch cycling events covering about 10 months of the year so I wouldn't bother with cycling forums at all if I followed that friendly and helpful advice!

I left those long-running threads and have never gone back.

Anyway. Enough on that subject...

You're making a meal of this. It's been almost a year.
Yes, it HAS been a long time. I ordered the trainer on December 6th last year but there was a big delay before it arrived. I finally got it on March 20th by which time I was out doing more road riding. Since then of course we have had a spectacular summer which I have enjoyed outdoors. It is only now that the weather is turning that I actually want to get on the turbo.

I had previously mentioned a mysterious clunking which I thought might be the turbo bike's bottom bracket. It actually turned out that I hadn't quite tightened the rear QR enough. When I made big efforts the frame was moving relative to the trainer body. I tightened the QR and all is quiet now.

The tennis ball trainer feet are now in place and should help a lot with the discomfort issue. A very quick spin felt much more natural, with the bike moving beneath me rather than being a rigid system grinding away at my undercarriage!

Get on the damn thing and use it or you'll die of old age and it'll be pristine.
I DID get on the damn thing a couple of evenings ago and managed to do 51 minutes of zone 2 before the aforementioned bollocks felt like they had gone AWOL, which rather put me off continuing!

I had planned to have another go this evening. Once again though, I had tech problems! I am having sporadic problems connecting the trainer to the Apple TV box. I haven't worked out what is going on. I gave up after an hour of faffing around. I'll think about it and have another go tomorrow. I want to be able to just switch on and go!

But this is a thread about Zwift (for the most part anyway!)

I would obviously avoid the threads in the Pro Racing section because of spoilers but I’m not going to stop viewing CycleChat entirely during a race.

It still pees me off that Zwift themselves spoiled the result of stage 1 of the TdF on Strava of all places. Still haven’t re-followed them on there yet.
