So does your higher than Cat limit Zmap in that race mean you'll be bumped up to Cat B? I'm not entirely sure how the Zmap thing works - whether it's defined as your highest 4-6 minute power in the last 90 days, or just an average (or other more complicated calculation) based on the last 90 days?

Oh no that's less than ideal! You've probably seen it but the WTRL rules say:

View attachment 792546

I suppose that Zmap thing affecting lots of people is down to suddenly having 4-5 minute climbs in a race where everyone is going full gas - a bit like in the old days of 20 minute power when they'd throw in a course with a 20 minute climb and loads of people got upgraded!

Yeah I've seen it, but 33% of people in my race got that. So I'm expecting WTRL to "revisit" that rule as they tend to do.
(Remember Innsbruck?)

No - that's the silly thing and why it doesn't work in ZRL.

You won't get bumped to B in CE until your zFTP goes above 200 Watts

It's basically this Boolean expression: (zFTP >3.36w/kg OR zMAP>4.1w/kg) AND zFTP >200W
My zFTP is 191 (it was 193 BEFORE the race but the higher 5m effort reduced it to 191 )

This affects all the light climby riders. And even some medium weight punchy riders like me.
It is what it is. Will wait for a ruling.

No I don't actually - what happened there?

It was a ZRL semi-final in 2022 or 2023. We went up the Innsbruck Kom and a large number of people went over the 20m w/kg threshold getting DQed.
WTRL then "adjusted" the rules to allow most of them back. They will do it again.

Last round we had four riders upgrade to B and WTRL tweaked the rules to allow 3 of them back. They do it all the time.
We'll see what happens this time. I won't cry either way. And I can't be accused of holding back on that first KoM. I went for it with nary a thought of power management

Ah I see that makes sense (kind of!). Yeah that is silly really isn't it - you've been put in a category, done a race in that category and are still in that category at the end of the race - and yet you get penalised! I think you should only get a Code 6 penalty if your performance in that race actually bumps you up to the next category otherwise it's just ridiculous

But presumably some of the riders who got the code 6 for Zmap also have a Zftp of over 200w if they're a heavier rider and so they'' have been bumped to Cat B and at the very least won't be able to race in their Cat C team for the rest of the round

By the way Alex - what bike/wheelset did you go for?

I've never done WRTL, but I was about to post about a mass coding I vaguely remember, thinking it was maybe Petit KOM or the first section of Ven Top before descending Petit KOM.

WTRL caved in and reinstated everyone!

All because so very few routes have 5min climbs and so very few are used for popular Zwift races, so masses displayed their true ability and WTRL crumbled.

Yeah the ones with >200 W zFTP will now be Bs

SL8 level 5 and Enve 65 Pro (or whatever the newest ENVEs with 4* for both weight and aero are called)

It looks as if they have made it to be like that as all Code 6s have disappeared, but obviously the 7 people who are now Bs from our race will not be there next week. I don't know if that's the final outcome or just temporary though. But for now I am reinstated. Last across the line in our team because of the dropout, but 2nd highest scorer due to the first three segments.

Very glad there is a B development league as that ended up being more fun than anticipated - Paul and I hung with the front group for the most point and even picked up a few FAL FTS points here and there. Don't think our team will be too competitive but it's still good fun.

Very much enjoyed sailing past everyone on the downhills. Weight plus knowing how to use the supertuck always gives a few seconds. Wish I'd had an anvil at some point
