A Strava route doesn't support turn by turn, you have to plot with ridewithgps for them. The thing I like most is that it just works, it doesn't crash and lose rides. If you have a wahoo turbo you can also use the elemnt to control the turbo or even ride Strava routes stored on it.

I'm not sure those reasons alone would help me justify buying another turbo... but I'm sure I can make up some others given time!

As Paul says, I didn't have turn notification. The routing is so easy to see, the maps are minimal detail so don't clutter the screen. It did alert me when I went off track because I plotted down a dirt track, which was very poor so we went around on the main road

I hope this changes over time. Personally I prefer just to have turn by turn and a bleep. And the map on the second page maybe. I do a few sportives and they mostly use strava maps for their gpx. It would be a pain to try and re map the course myself over those distances.

Don't get me wrong, the bolt has lots of positives. And garmin maps were a pain in the arse so I haven't lost anything.

Tommy with the Elemnt you can have the mapping with some data fields above. You prioritise which fields you want. Does the bolt do the same?

The two units run off the same software. The element obviously has the bigger screen so it'll be easier for mapping. But for me I want at least 6+ data fields on my main page, so I'd have the mapping on a secondary page with either unit. I'll only really flick to the map when I'm at a roundabout or big junction where the turning maybe a little unclear.

It's not a deal breaker for me by any means. It's just something wahoo can improve on hopefully. Frm what I understand the unit behaves in a much more common sense way than the garmin so I'm really looking forward to getting used to it. I'm working Saturday unfortunately so it'll be Sunday before I give it a test run

Yep, create a route from the activity, sync to the elemnt, link the elemnt and kickr, select the route, and ride

Had a go at the Pretzel, a while since Ive had a go. A few PBs, some of which might frighten Dean, an not too far behind Bob I might play with my weight to see at what weight I become truly competitive on the hills, then that will be target(dream)

That's good to hear Andy. Be really interesting to see you do my Ventoux rides.
First time on bike/turbo yesterday since my return from Ventoux. We always hope for improvements post a cycling trip. Wow, what a difference. Rode the Rapha challenge and positively sprinting up the first hill, 5 and 6w/kg before settling down to 4-4.5 and on course for a much improved pb when chain dropped once then a second time. Seems this numbskull hadn't tightened cassette on new NEO enough so cassette rings gradually coming loose really annoyed with myself. Anyway, cassette now on properly and Will have another go at the weekend.

Yes i have noticed don't you worry about that .
Had some great PB'S on Richmond the other day and chasing some of your times, but the amount of power you can put out is crazy, signed up for trainerroad now after seeing improvements all ready so watch out Bob and Andy I'm on you tails

Dean, its horses for courses. I'd expect you/Bob and any lightweight to always beat me on climb more than 0.2 mile and vice versa for me on the flats.

I followed, well chased a rider today on the flat who could easily put out 4-5W/Kg, he couldn't get away with my @ 3W/Kg, but soon as the Pretzel climb began, he stretched a lead in no time holding 5W/Kg for most of the climb, I sustained about 3.2-3.5. I think he was 2.5mins faster than me for the 'Epic KOM' 4.4miles.

Never been called a lightweight before Mind you my weight did drop to 72kilo's while away. Nudging 74 again today but i have eaten like a pig since my return with no exercise at all.
Need to replace my bike. Have toyed with idea of a caad12 in purple but too spendy. Likely to stick with Giant and torn between a straight replacement (with a discount and ifc) or a slightly racier model. I have tubeless Hunt wheels i will put on though the tubeless Giant wheel look good and light too. I even like the colour and finish of the advanced 1 . I would probably be going up the range for di2 if i could afford it. I am sure it is lovely. Riding in france and up ventoux has reminded me that above all else comfort and fit and weight are the most important things. When you are only using a few gears mechanical is just fine.

For what it's worth I think the cannondale synapse is closer to the defy in geometry. Totally agree about electric. It's lovely but a luxury. I'd think about putting a power meter into my budget though.

Yeah, i have ridden a synapse and found it a little too upright. New one looks great. Also looked at Canyon in a lovely red. Too many issues and difficult to get them resolved at lbs. Then there is the BMC slro2 which looks as modern as they come and reviews suggest ride wonderfully, best balance of comfort and speed. Very spendy above 105 level. And i have to factor in money for a bike for my nipper. Absolutely agree about a power meter TT and i should have mentioned it. Looking at a 4iiii, left side only but sufficient for my needs.

Mind you...

would have to factor in new seat post and probably stem and handlebars. Still
