sure they will be there ! just got to be tactical
i have already just bought a rear light that sends a text with location to a number if you crash - just incase it happens again when i am on another long one - therefore if my wife thought about it for a while - she would know i will be going for another long one ! easy
been in shed a few times now and feel ok when i am in position ( hurts to get in drops but once there not too bad )
havent got a replacement helmet yet , got an old one but in no hurry to go out yet
maybe the lawyers here could help - kask do a helmet replacement sceme where you send the old one off and pay 50% towards a new one
if i send it off obviously i havent got the broken one anymore for insurance to sort out - will they turn funny and should i just wait for them to sort their end out ?
what are ;peoples views on that then ?

Photograph it for insurance purposes and should be enough- ideally on your head so they know it is yours and then separately. Even a little 10 sec phone video showing damage and receipt

Bit of a mare on the BB ride. 2 Zwift crashes meant I started late and joined them all...at the climb:rolleyes:

Managed to get sprint jersey at 7w/k which is darned good for me. Bike began to move in NEO and it seems qr worked loose due to my awesome power:laugh: reset, fell behind main group and then it worked loose again. I have put a washer between axle nut and damaged drop out to even it out and seems qr won't tighten properly so will need to sort something out. Frustrating because still an hour to go on the ride.

Andy, between dropout and axle nut or washer in between? The dropout is gouged off centre where it was rubbed- see pic

You could do it both sides,. The thickness won't be great. If the oversize washer fits ok, then use it has a template, cut sandpaper and glue with super glue on each side of washer, the reassemble

I continue to persist with a training regime. This was hard. I had to hold 215w at 67rpm for 5m 5 times broken up by 130w at 100rpm for 5 min to clear the legs. Finished off with 4 x 750w sprints from 130w - almost impossible. 1st drop out in ages meant a technical fail but after 2 min managed to get going again. I am kind of enjoying this^_^

I swear, those 67 rpm @ 225 watt felt like 300 watt in the legs , but HR told me otherwise.
The sprints were nearly impossible on the Bkool, since the wheel would slip if I stood up. Had to do them all sitting down.

After the sprint one would expect the ERG to loosen its grip, but it took forever. The damn thing was screaming to me to spin faster (100 rpm). Yeahh right, you try that in 50/11 gear at max resistance and 5 RPM .

I turned erg off. There is no way the NEO would react quickly enough otherwise.

W3 is a strange one. I found the first of the two extended periods of threshold pushing really difficult. The second was a little easier and I did wonder if They should have upped the watts a bit for that. The coole down was ridiculously long though and I am not sure absolutely necessary.

W4 tomorrow- looks tough.

Yea, the time for ERG to respond is painful on the kickr as well. It's almost like it'd be better off with a few seconds "off" or with a graduated change in resistance to give you time to get the RPMs into a reasonable range. Trying to turn over even just a hundred watts when doing single digit RPMS is, umm, painful. It may be best to stop pedaling for a few seconds to get it to release, then work back to the desired range -- which will cause ERG to re-engage.

It's been a long time since I did any kind of testing, so I did the ZA FTP test last night. I went too hard at the start -- I'm sure if I plotted a trend line for the 20 minutes it'd slope down. I spun up slightly for the last minute and finished completely toasted for 279W on the test with an FTP of 265. I had to turn off ERG for the long cooldown -- I couldn't even turn the pedals at 140 or whatever it wanted.

The 279/265 result is roughly what I expected -- the FTP number seems a bit high. I've never held 260 for an hour except for one effort earlier this year which I think was a fluke of some kind. I've read a number of posts around estimating FTP from the 20 minute test. Opinions vary from 90% of that effort to 95% of that effort. That'd give me a range of 251-265 and I suspect I'm on the low side of that. Some of the recent volcano CCW races are just shy of an hour for me -- for example 248 over 58.5 minutes. In all the test is reasonably close, particularly if you remember its an estimate and look at a range rather than the specific number.

Jeff, erg should have auto turned off for the 20m test. Nice ftp.
Mine was 261/250 and is too high putting me in B cat territory.i managed 200w over an Hour on the BB this am.i will see if I can get nearer my f tp on the chain gang ride Tuesday. Looking to race later in the week.

I thought the Zwift warm up was not getting me 100% ready for the FTP, and I wanted to make sure I didn't bail it, so I started "gently" with 5 min @ 250 watt, then 5 min @ 270 watt and ended with 10 min @ 300 watt.
The average was 275 which is about 261 FTP.

The goal for me is still 30 min @ 300 watt so the last 10 minutes was a good moral booster for me .

That is pretty impressive and would likely put you in A cat depending on weight. Are you about 70k?

My ftp was 238 at 74k (though now 73k and aiming for 70) so I tried to ride 260 from the start and stay there thinking 238 would be the outcome  I will do another one at the end of the academy but will take the same sensible approach as you.

if you change bikes / wheels on zwift - does it make any difference to times ? i got a tt bike and think the downhills were quicker - so do you think if i changed to the lightweight one i just got and put the light wheels on , it would make a difference going up hill ? i am guessing if it does then what it gives with one hand it would take back on the downhill ?

On the days were there's a 30x 10sec @6million watts sprintervals I either skip it or ride a lap. The neo is amazeballs but as above it simply cannot respond the way it needs to so nearly every time is missed stars (I only allow myself to drop 1 star a ride)
