Hoping to do my first ride for nearly 3 weeks today.

Had a week's jolly with the company in Venice - and then had the flu which I'm just getting over now. Not sure how much fitness I will have lost. I guess I'll find out shortly.

Looking forward to getting back to racing

Nahh, don't race. Do a long ftp test instead. How else will you measure fitness loss:whistle:

It was a respectable showing though, particularly for a route which a fair amount of climbing -- and I suspect we would have rode together more if I hadn't gone out and set my #1 and #2 times on those first two laps. By the end you were just 30 seconds behind.

You might consider the Monday KISS race as well. It alternates between C/D and D. The competition is a bit weaker and its a smaller field so you'll be more competitive. To get a sense, I can pretty consistently podium in that race.

You might also consider riding D when there's a lot of climbing and C for flatter courses. I did that for a while, but felt I got more out of trying to push in the C group even if I wasn't competitive on climbing courses.

Thank you - that's a great idea. My sons football is on a Thursday evening so going forward I'm going to struggle, which is a shame as I'm enjoying the online racing. Tuesday night Kiss has a lot more climbing which did make me shudder a bit when I saw the route profile, so Monday night's suits me perfectly.

Also note the courses in use can change weekly. So don't assume that every Tues will have you climbing...

I planned to do a nice easy Endurance ride to get back into the swing of things.

Like a fool, I saw a Race starting 20 minutes after I started riding and clicked "Join". After 10 minutes or so, I bailed out - realising that I was probably doing more harm than good. I'm clearly not over the illness fully yet

One lap of the Zsun bb with a pb on the Kom and then straight into 1h 43m of W6, up and unders. Tough but not as tough as w5. No screenshot. Messed up taking it:rolleyes:

My weaker right leg makes holding watts trickier. Can hold say 240 on left leg then drops to 215 in right. Going through this training is concentrating my mind on leg strength and form. The better I hold firm the more even the watts either leg.
Nice to see Dean and Rob.

That sounds like me at the beginning of the year. Thought I was over my illness, from Christmas, get on the bike 15-20 minutes in coughing fit that would not end until I stopped. It took 6 weeks for my lungs to clear fully. I was reduced to walking rather than riding :cursing:.

Good luck with your recovery and don't push it too early.

I was doing over and under as well when you seen me, i find them strangely enjoyable but by the last over i was looking at the seconds tick by wanting them to finish quicker.
