I keep thinking of the kickr/climb, but @Whorty s trouble with the belt puts me off somewhat. That's why I'm leaning towards the neo .... But then no climb ...

I suppose I really ought to look at swift as well

They changed the belt on the 2018, as well as a few other things apparently, to help make it quieter/silent (I can hear my ankles complaining when riding it ). As well as trying to prevent slippage. AFAIK only the Neo is totally belt free within the direct drive trainer segment.

That is ZA Workout #6 done. Quite tough - 4 minute intervals.

Hoping to do this tomorrow. I've completed 8 of the 16 sessions now, so halfway there (2 races, 5 workouts, 1 group ride).

it could be any, all of these. I've watched the only available video on how to fit the belt and I think I have done it properly, but it is a bit of a faff and it is very possible i haven't tensioned something correctly. I just set the trainer on 40% in Zwiftland so it works fine - just a shame I can't climb the hills at the real gradient to get a proper feel.

The slipping happens when the cadence drops below 50 rpm (almost irrespective of power) - I can hit 700 watts at 90rpm and no slipping, but can't hit 350 watts at 60 rpm without the belt slipping. Strange!

It was ok, not my strongest race. I arrived late and was the last rider in the peleton when we started. On round 2 on the hill, a gap opened at the back of the peleton. I didn't feel like I had my climbers legs on today, so I hoped someone would close the gap after the hill, but that never happened. There was a strong head wind up that hill, so I knew it was game over when the gap wasn't closed. It was just pretty much a like a time trial from there.

I can assure, they were not in slow motion Top license (A & B) riders finished 15 min. ago, but the guys from our bunch (Super motion) still holds the fastest laps on Strava. Top guy avg. 430 watts for that fastest lap .

Results from the elite guys has now ticked in. The top rider from our buch now "only" got the 4th fastest lap. I got bumped to 62th place

Will be doing the 7:50 ZA group ride this morning. Following 3 days of racing my legs need a rest, but as these rides are all unfriendly times for me and I'm up I figured I'd give it a go (you have to do 4 too to complete the academy). Says it will be a 'social' ride of 2-2.5 kg/w for an hour .... be interesting to see if they stick within this range or if I have to 'race' to keep up!

I've found there's usually a group that will ride at the appropriate range. There's usually also a group going harder that just leaves the main group behind.

I actually joined that faster group for my ZA ride on Friday. I figured at the pace they were going I'd probably set a 60 minute best power since my embolism if I could keep it up. I faded a bit, but was successful in my goal of setting that 60 minute best power post embolism. Still way below what I was doing in the spring, but I've got a much better sense of where I am physically.

Re-rode the ZA workout #1. This time with a group and ERG seemed to be working much better. So I was able to just pedal against whatever resistance it gave me. Much more enjoyable than constantly seeing the more/less power messages.

Everyone disappeared during the final interval, going to assume it was a local network glitch.

Regarding drop outs as Bob says it’s powerline for the win! I bought powerline plugs that also omit a WiFi signal too and I never got a drop out in either wireless or wired connection.

#pro tip: Don’t tell teenaged WiFi hoggers you have powerline adapters, let alone the codes!

I was skeptical of the powerline widgets, but I picked one up a couple years ago based on the recommendations here. Idea was to get functional network in a spot where the stone walls seem to block wifi signals. Worked perfectly. For things like TV streaming, zwift and the like they seem like a hell of a good solution.

Certainly beats going into the crawl space to draw a cable to a remote corner of the house...

I was happy sitting with the pack at 2.5 w/kg as this was my 4th day riding in a row. 1 or 2 may have gone off the front but mostly the pack stayed together. A nice recovery ride in the end.

Belt will slip when pushing down the power if tension pulley not set correctly....Quick job to adjust though

Fairly same overall effort, but a hell of a difference in speed.
My max was 300 watts less than that guy, but those peaks are usually out of corners, to stay with the pack. Alone, I could just go full gass round the corners, no need to accelerate.
