Yep tottaly agree mate. I think a couple of years ago the big manufactures tried to make rim brakes obsolete by stopping to make rim brake frames. But now they’ve realised there’s still a big demand for them. Just cones down to personal preference.

For me personally I like a light bike. Which sounds odd considering I’m 78kg. I’ve also got a few wheelsets and like switching them about.

But if I liked a frame and it was disc brake. That wouldn’t put me off getting it.

I may have been in on the start of the disc brake change, I know they'd bern around for several years before I bought my first bike this time round, but they hadn't really gone mainstream. I bought my Hoy hybrid 5 years ago, the difference between rim and disc of similarly equiped bikes was about £100. I justified the disc brake bike by saying it'd save me replacing a set of wheels due to brake track wear.

The fact that I went from a 10 to 11 speed on the back after 6 months negated any potential saving to be made .

I was deciding between those two a few months back (except for me it was the Neo 1) and went for the Neo because of all the problems Kickrs were having at the time. I can't really comment on the Kickr but I am really happy with the Neo - solid, quiet, reliable and consistent. Heard of a few issues some users have with them (not least whorty!) but I also know several people who have had one for years without any issues at all.

On my experience neo. I liked my kickr18 when I bought it. Quiet compared to the 17 I loaned to my brother. The same seamless, for me, integration into the various softwre platforms I was using. It just worked.

Then I fell foul of the keyway issue. Wahoo were fairly quick to deal with the issue and I was back up and running in about 10 days. An almost painless swap.

4 months later I'm at it again. The replacement has developed a vibration and pulsing noise. The centre hub cap will not stay in the flywheel. Email to Wahoo and a replacement will shortly be on its way. Hopefully 3rd time lucky.

That friend needs a NEO only decision y, sorry HE needs to make is NEO 1 or 2. Lots of deal on the 1 cost is a concern

The Core version is mid range, nowhere near the high end Neo.
I had a bike fit on the fitters core & it felt like cheap Chinese crap in comparison.

Been waiting all week for a convenient time to do Stage 4 of T.O.W , worked pretty hard all way and finished with ; 42:43 @peterob . I’m sure everyone doing the TOC has been keeping an eye on weather forecast, looking like it’s gonna be hot , sunny with a bit of a breeze, have a good ride everyone involved ☀️

NEO or NEO2 ..... not sure about the Kickr Core, but the Kickr in my experience really don't like hills!
