@Brendan Parker I'll look out for you at 6 and try not to blow up this time! As I'll be starting a bit more restrained this time you'll likely be ahead of me. I'll call out my position at times once I get into a stable group :okay: Hopefully we can get into same group and help each other out along the way

Doesn’t this just mean you’re using a different part of the cassette? or am I missing something?
A few interesting replies to this question.

Today I probably had to use a wider range of gears, but maybe that finer granularity just gave me a chance to hold my power better. With less changes, I think your cadence probably plays a more definite role in holding power?

On this ride, the resistance seemed more constant, supported by the gear changes, and it felt that I was holding power more by maintaining pressure (grinding as @Whorty said) rather than through spinning.

Of course, I'm much stronger than I was a few months ago, so that has to be a factor as well. I'm wondering whether stronger legs plays a factor in being able to roll a bigger gear, push against a higher resistance. It must have some effect?

Whatever it was, I got up Leith Hill 51 seconds faster and I was purposely not going in to the red.

Its a one-off, so too early to draw any conclusion until I've tried other courses, but worth playing around with this a bit more I think.

1:20:54 for both @Brendan Parker and me please @peterob (and well done on your cracking time, 7 minutes further up the road :notworthy: )

Flippin heck, that were hard! Even going out easy and holding something back for the latter part of the race I was still on the limit with 15 mins to go. Got dropped from a couple of groups, but thankfully ended up in a really good group with Brendan that worked well and dragged me along nicely. Pretty pleased with that time though :okay:

Really enjoyed that one strangely. Went off quite easy got in a good group early on with @Whorty stayed there until Richmond park when all the skinny lads pulled away but a nice group formed and we caught them back up. Actually crossed the line with Carl. Was hoping you didn’t go for the sprint  Great ride mate 👍

No chance of a sprint from me :surrender: Really strong ride from you, those flatter/fast courses don't suit me as much as the ones with a bit of climbing. I was really pleased to hold on to your wheel once we climbed out the tube station the second time - I had visions of you and the rest of the group riding away from me, and leaving me to roll in on my own. Thankfully I managed to just about hang on.
