Have you finished work now Carl
yep. Last Thursday. But don't tell Tommy else he'll be deducting excuse points off meHave you finished work now Carl
2 days a week from home would be good, just to keep your fingers in the pie![]()
My experience tells me that you need to be the kind of rider who can climb using low twitch muscles with a high cadence and without putting too much of a strain on the legs.
Ithionk it comes down to your riding or more accurately pedalling style. If you are a Froome or dare I say it Armstrong type climber, then with the right training it's possible, If you are more like say Contador (as I am...in my dreams) putting out alot of watts especially out of the saddle, then it's probably not for you.Is that just down to gearing, unless you're a persistent grinder

I suppose it comes down to which hill you pick, gradient and length. Short steep hill, lots of climbing feet harder to climb in shorter time, long gradual slope easier but many more miles to cover. There must be a middle ground.
Two teenage lads attempted it on Ditchling Beacon a year or so back- one finished
Edit. I wont be attempting Everesting challenge-ever
Old enough and unfit to realise certain challenges are left to those younger, fitter and more daft than me![]()
Moment in a pen is my strongest moment. It gives me a "this is not bad at all" thoughtsSigning up for the 6 o'clock ToL stage 5 today. Was torn between that and the 4 o'clock ride, but there are more riders at 6Plus, @IrishAl is signed up for the 6 o'clock so gives me a wheel to hang on to (whilst we're still stationery in the pen
)
Not to go too off topic (I'm setting up for an excuse for tonight's ride) or Mumsnet-ie, but this story hit so many truths yesterday (Full time caring). My wife doesn't have dementia, or too many cognitive issues, but a lot of what these poor women are going through with their husbands affects many carers out there. Very sad, and next to no help from social services.
Now for the excuses .... we had an emergency last night, was up until 4:30 until 111 sorted wifey out, so i'm shattered today. Come on @<Tommy> this must be worth a 2 or 3 on the world renowned "Tommy Excuse Reduce Scale"
p.s. no sympathy needed, it is what it is, but thought some might be interested in the link, and I need an excuse for a potential poor time later![]()
Oh well, it was worth a tryIn the summer at the DD I think I got two hours sleep before joining the lads on the 130 mile(?) ride. After 100 miles when everyone was struggling a bit I sat on the front and pulled everyone along for 10 miles straight. With this information, and the fact you’ve just disclosed you’ve not worked in an entire week. I think I’ll break with tradition and let you give yourself a mark out of ten.
(I’ll give you a clue. Your score should start with a minus symbol)
Ross Duncan is rode now 23h33min/540km. Don't know how much elevation is behind but that challenge must be torture.https://zwiftinsider.com/3-records-1-ride/
Worth a read if anyone's self esteem is too high
Going for a Tron bike in one ride
