One thing we commented on last night is that when we merged we may have slowed down a little as the group wasnt being driven as hard , so maybe we need to keep more momentum going once the two groups combine .

And yet as his W/Kg is under the 3.2 Limit for CAT B (Possibly not for much longer) then CCC IS where he can reside quite legitimately. ... Of course if he wants to ride "Up Category" then that is up to him

It’s not going to effect my day either way. But... we are taking specifically about this course aren’t we? Or maybe I’ve missed something. I haven’t read every post to be honest. But on this course watts trump w/kg by quite a margin.
Carl, behave! You're the second person who's suggested we're setting handicaps in order to "win" or to "beat CCC". Frankly that's a little insulting. As I've said before, the only point in setting handicaps is to try and engineer a close finish amongst riders of different abilities, not to set anyone or any team in particular up for a win.Seems strange that the plan to beat CCC is to remove our best (C cat) rider, rather than the other 2 teams to try and work out a tactic that actually beats CCC and get revenge.
Surely the point of the handicaps is to keep the teams the same each race, but tweak the time so that we have as many finish together as possible. @Joffey was only 30 seconds/500 metres up the road, can #23 and #68 just work a little harder next time

Can we work harder next time? - no probably not! We were all at our limit, and surprisingly for me actually went a bit quicker than in the ZRL. Team CCC went slower so if anything it's them who have capacity to improve!
Joffey and Team CCC worked with the situation they had last night and pulled off an excellent win - no one has a problem with this and we've all congratulated Joffey and the team - it was great! But we now have new data from Joffey that we didn't have before. I'm sure if I'd set the handicaps and Team 23 had won by over 30 seconds you would be in favour of tweaking the handicaps? I would definitley be! This situation is no different.
Not a problem Joffey staying in CCC and adjusting the handicap though and tweaking the time. I think the point being made though is that the time gap to CCC increasingly becomes the time gap to Joffey, and the rest of CCC stand no chance at all. Joffey has around 40% more power than the average of the rest. But if that's what Joffey and Team CCC want we could just knock the time gap from Team 23 down by 30 seconds and re-run it.

But Joffey is a C rider in a C team. We just have a wide range of riders in the team which is not unusual in C cats. Just seems more logical to me to keep the teams as they were in the league, else it's not really a race between the 3 teams.
It’s funny I think we were thinking the complete opposite! By putting Joffey in #68 (which seems closer to his ability), it makes it easier to work out a handicap for ccc as the spectrum of ability in the team isn’t so wide.
But I'll go with whatever and adjust my tactics accordingly.

Nothing to stop us doing that - I think we just fancied mixing it up a bit and having a slightly different format to the usual TTT. And despite the debates about the handicaps I think everyone enjoyed the format last night. We could certainly do a standard TTT on one of the other weeks, as well as a standard mass start race for example

Same here mate. I’m not really bothered either way. And if Joffey or anyone else has a preference to be in a certain team then that’s obviously fine with me and I assume everyone else. Like I said the reason I brought it up originally is because irrespective of which cat Joffey is in, his form on that course is much closer aligned to the other two teams. So it just fits better. Category’s are based on w/kg where as that course is pure watts. That was my logic anyway.
But... and I’m stating the obvious here. This is fun. Nothing more nothing less. Just fun. I personally enjoy the competition side of it. In fact I love it. And this debate just shows everyone loves it too! Although maybe some people don’t like to admit it openly. We’re all competitive animals and this is how things go sometimes. So in that sense it’s all positive! 👍😄

I don't think I'm misbehaving Paul and I have as much right surely to put my view as others have, but I do find it strange we want to switch someone out of a team rather than just tweak the start times and keep teams the same (accepting some cannot ride on the day, and others will slot in). Joffey is a C rider, albeit with high watts (as quite a few heavier C riders have), and he is currently riding in a C team.
If the race is still first over the line then tweaking the start times based on Joffey winning so CCC lose 30 seconds could work, but then 30 seconds wasn't a massive win time so with #68 being stronger anyway next time maybe the original times were spot on.
If it's 2nd, 3rd or whatever over the line then times tweaked according to that person. (not sure who those riders are for each team but I'm sure can be worked out)
But, I have another idea to stop all the bickering ... why don't the three team captains agree between them the start times and just tell the rest of us and we all agree to what the captains say?
That's not a bad idea, and if we sort it by the weekend we can pop it on the forum and get numbers. Fellow Capos?
