The problem with bike choice on this course is you'll only gain a handful of seconds at best from the most lightweight bike on these climbs - but equally you'll gain little or nothing from the most aero bike on the descents (especially in in a small group as drafting comes into affect).

If I had to choose I'd go for lightweight over aero, but I'll probably go for Tron

If anyone's still tempted to do a recon ride on this course, there's a Team RWB race on it tomorrow at 16:30. I'm kind of tempted to do it again but with a lightweight climbing bike and wheels this time to see if it makes much difference on the descents. My experience yesterday - when I rode the Tron - was I mostly just super-tucked in a small group on the descents and no one really got away or got dropped. So while I get that the Tron is in theory quicker on the flat/descent I'm now not sure it will actually be any real disadvantage being on a climbing bike on these types of descents....tricky one to decide 🤔

Having said that - probably won't really make any difference to my race either way so I should probably stop going on about it
I might give this a go if things fall into place during the day . Might have the Giro on GCN on the side as they ascend the Zoncolon for inspiration.

I think so too. Although if you think you’re on a lighter bike it might give you a bit of placebo effect too which can’t hurt.
But overall I just like the tron. I like the lack of head bobbing as much as anything.

For those awaiting their second vaccine, I had mine the day before that ride - next to no adverse reaction this time.

@<Tommy> you might want to make a note of this for future excuse policing :okay:
Had my second one about a month ago .... was zonked out for about 2 hours in the same afternoon ... still raced in the evening (league TTT where Zwift sent me a different direction), but apart from the tiredness I had no other reactions. That was AZ. In fact, I felt really strong on the bike taht evening, so if anything we should be expecting a boost in performance on the day of a second jab ;)

TL;DR on the new ATV 4K according to GPLama.

Don't bother...

Ah that's disappointing, but I'm glad now I got the old version at the tail end of last year rather than wait.
