My brother did 538W for 2:36 in the Reading CC Hill Climb today - that’s nearly as many as I’ve ever held for a minute!

Had fun in the 3R race this morning - a selection was made up the Reverse KOM, then I tried to stretch out my group on the forward Watopia Wall. I went for a long sprint 600m out, which probably served me as well as trying any other tactic at the finish (3rd in my group, 8th A out of 14 on ZwiftPower). Unlike many of the other races recently, there was a decent field with 94 riders across the categories. I like the mass starts because they allow you to gauge yourself against riders in different categories.

Almost C - haven't seen that next to my name on ZwiftPower for a good four months! Only marginally though; got 2.507 w/kg (95% of 20 min power) in today's ride.

Entered a 3R 1 lap Tick Tock race - mass start, so went out of the gate full pelt for the first time in ages and by the time we had got through the desert sprint arch, I was solidly in the second group on the road with mainly Cs and a few Bs. Had to work hard to stay with them, but was worth it as the only other D who started equally well as me got dropped long before the waterfall. Wasn't able to hold on to the group on the climb out of the desert, but managed to hang with a group of five Cs who had also got distanced and went with them to the end, finishing fourth on the sprint.

Interestingly, had I entered as a C, ZwiftPower says I would have come 9th out of 17, which is pretty good for me, albeit on a flat course where my weight doesn't count too much against me.

Going on the fact that they have the experience communicating with the organisers and already being captains. Personally my vote would go to Nick or Michael for manager. That’s if we’re having a vote, and assuming they’d be willing to do it of course.

Alternately maybe you two guys could share the load between you?

Was waiting to see if anyone else might come forward, but doesn’t look like it 😝

Happy to do the link sharing and co-ordination, but folks will need to accept an occasional executive decision (mostly when time is tight!).

I’m thinking two teams entered with everyone racing in B Cat here registered up front:
Splitters1
Splitters2

I can create a private chat group for each, and share the links there each week. When team members change to balance the numbers, members of each group will be updated to reflect that. This should avoid anyone accidentally using the wrong link because people will only see the link for the race they’re entering.

I can also create a private chat for the overall group so we don’t spam this thread with nonsense initially about jerseys then excuses once the racing starts?

What do the B Cat racers think of that? I can get it going swiftly if people are happy? Team name is just a suggestion at this stage 🙂

It would have been a long cold wait 😀

I am happy with your suggestions- allows us to play around with riders depending on course and league placing.

What about the tops?

Very happy for those who normally rode in B, but are currently in C/D to ride down a level if they feel they need more practice to get back to full fitness, but obviously we are going to look to give first choice of slots to those who are likely to be racing in C for the whole season - it's only fair.

Having said that, there may well be a few races where we in C are short on numbers this season, as although we still have the same number of people in the squad, some of us are now only able to make a limited number of dates when previously they were available every week - one of them being myself, as I am no longer working from home every day and I'd still be on my commute even with the 19:30 timeslot.
I'd love to ride every week but my house sale/purchase is going a bit Pete Tong .... I've committed to moving out my house on the 24th, but struggling to get those I'm buying off to move out until mid October :cursing: As I speak, I may be in an AirBnB for a few weeks with wifi but probably not bike .... need to see how negotiations go this week!

I'll know before start of league if/when I can ride :okay:

@IrishAl what’s your ETA this season?
@Alongo?
I have some pretty big home improvement projects on the horizon , so going to keep the cycling in a leisurely and relaxed state for a while . I’m in C on Zwift power now and not going to be chasing any promotion for the time being . I’ll be happy to do a few races as a C if there’s space in the team but don’t want to commit to every week.

Sorry to hear that
I know how that feels Carl. We have just pulled out of our purchase, due to farmer taking over a year with his 4 failed purchases. Any tiny hiccup he would just walk away, expecting us to hang around waiting for him. Patience stretched beyond breaking.

Yes ... my sellers are on their 3rd house they're trying to buy, but then so am I too ... my first attempt to buy was a dodgy deed, second one, the sellers were not committed and took it off the market 3 weeks later, and this one ... well, they're on their 3rd house.

Market is crazy at the moment. Just can't seem to get to the end of a transaction.

Hence why I have to move out on 24th, at least I can crystalize my sale.

Anyone got a sofa I can doss on?
