Also, for next week's "Flat" stage (nothing to complain about next week guys - except maybe from @berty bassett although he was pretty bloomin fast on the flat sections last night!), how about we use the new Neokyo course - just because it's new and pretty! "Sleepless City" course is very flat - will just need to decide on distance - I'm thinking maybe 30km (18 miles) which is about 3 laps?

Sounds good to me! Could even have a time bonus on one of the laps to keep it interesting, or is that a pointless complication given GC is probably sewn up...

Never get back the climbing losses. It would take something like triple the down hill speed to catch up. If Lee crested with a 30 seconds lead. No one would catch him, by the time the chaser crested Lee would be a least 500 metres in front.
Yeah that's true - but it's the "climbing stage" so there has to be a big climb! And whilst that's true that no one will probably catch Lee (he'll probably have more than 30 second lead at the top!) there's lots of other battles between riders throughout the group where a chase on the descent and flat might come into play.

I dont mind the climb too much, for me its a good 40mins presently. Good opportunity to hold a steady Wattage. Only on pan flat, did I ever have a slight hope of holding his wheel, note historical tense. These days he has become a monster on every terrain-a Bernal-esque type. :okay:

Bit like a grand tour isn’t it. You have to accept the climbers will win the whole thing but the sprinters will get their chance on the flat days.

It’d be really cool if we could create a series amongst ourselves that combined a points competition with a GC.

Agreed, the first stage podium is definitely the three strongest of the starters and I've no doubt the climbing stage will show the same (you'll be up there if you can make it of course). No one is winning both handily (unless you are WVA)

I suppose this is the first multi stage thing we've done so hopefully we learn as we go and hopefully can do I again and finesse it

Yeah definitely. You kind of have to accept not everyone walks away with a prize each week. But if you can motivate yourself by trying to gradually over time reel in the guy ahead of you in the standings then it’s really good motivation.

We used to do a different league amongst ourselves every month to be fair. It’s kind of where the likes of me, lee, Paul, bob, andy etc cut our teeth. No categories just trying to catch the bugger in front of you each week! It’s my favourite thing to be honest. I get why people like the cat system ans I’m not knocking them for it. But I think it’s more of a hindrance than help in some ways.

To take a real life example, if a rider did an average speed for the 13km of descent and flat to the finish of 50kph (realistic based on Strava info), a chasing group or rider would only need to average 1.7kph more over the final 13kms to overhaul a 30 second lead.

13km @ 50kph = 15:36
13km @ 51.7kph = 15:05

I can nearly afford the Zwift Aero frame for 319,500 drops (need just 40,000 more). But there's also the Canyon Aeroad 2021 frame for 568,000.

I can realistically get the first one in time for Monday DBR race (Duchy Estate) and the TdS 2nd stage (course TBD but flat). Should I do it?

Then buy the Zipp 808 at lvl 13 and then save up for the Aeroad?

I already have the DT Swiss ARC 62.

There’s nothing to say we couldn’t run a league parallel to the wrtl leagues is there? With a point and GC classification. It’d mean we could all race together uninhibited by the catergory boundaries.

You can even do an overall GC and a separate Cat GC with minimal effort - that might then make it even more inclusive.

It's got some legs this idea. We could have a right old mix of worlds and stages.

I wonder how hard it is to assign points on sprints though, I don't think it is able to be viewed after the race ends is it? Maybe just 1 sprint and someone screenshots the results?

I think we should stick with Tempus Fugit for next weeks stage as that is super-flat and we're all familiar with it, then Innsbruck for the big climb and as I've mentioned previously, a fourth flat-ish stage would be welcome to balance the series out (also gives an extra chance of riding to those who have to miss a stage).

I've already said I like Wandering Flats on Makuri because it combines both the countryside and the night city bits, plus one lap took me 46 minutes at not quite full pace, so it's a reasonable length as well, but there's plenty of courses to choose from.

Wheels make a bigger difference than frames, so I'd get the Zipps first, then save up for the Aeroad as a second purchase.

I'm only lvl 10 so won't be able to buy the Zipp 808 for another 3 levels. I should be able to spend on the Zwift Aero frame and then get the cash for the Zipp before hitting 13.

After the Aeroad the next two frames are marginally better.
