I keep meaning to enter the Mersey 24, but need to prep correctly and get my shoot together.
Do it! I did it in 2006 and it was, um, an experience! I started too fast (100 miles in 4:25), and in spite of being copiously sick during the night I got a second wind on the Sunday morning. The camaraderie and support in the wee hours is great.

It does take a lot of preparation to mount a proper attempt, though.

I thought the '24' referred to miles ... just realised it is hours!!! Wow, that's some achievement :notworthy:

426.86 miles, apparently. Mostly fuelled on rice pudding, tinned pears and ibuprofen.

Our club records are here https://www.sleafordwheelers.co.uk/Trophies.html

409 miles for 24 hours. It got updated after standing from the 1970s

Lee did 300 miles in 18 hours on a normal bike:ohmy:

Edit My memory has come back a little. The reason he has 409 and not something nearer to 440-450 was he began being sick couldn't keep food down. His 12hr time suggested he could have done more.

Since then world has changed, he's moved away and not sure he is dedicated to do those distance s. I still follow him on Strava
