Haha, what a funny day riding outside today.

Set off, did 1k and got a puncture. Unbelievable considering I only got my saddle bag, pump and spare tube last week. Stopped and managed to replace it. Very much recommend the tire glider thingy - made the whole thing a lot easier.

Cycled to LBS to get a new spare tube right away, then did a few laps round the racecourse in quite windy conditions. Learned how side wind feels today

might take a break today , just got the 14 day badge after yesterday when i did the alpe in the morning then makuri in the afternoon and the legs are tired

Gotta have rest days. Zwift is a nightmare for "encouraging" you to ride every day, and worse, to ride hard.

This is one reason that I got a coach. If I'm told to rest, I usually do. I'm finishing a build block today with a 3hr ride, then I have 2 rest days and a 2hr recovery ride on the 3rd day coming up. I'd never have scheduled that if it was left to me

Is your trainer playing up again, Ben? I saw you got 43 minutes for the Alpe. If your trainer calibration is up and down all over the place, you won’t be getting a meaningful sense of your progress.

i have only been doing shorter harder rides what with my collar bone on the mend as i dont think it would like londer steady rides yet , it will be something im lacking when i do get back to normal riding but hopefully the engine will have been kept in tickover at least

My IRL ride yesterday was supposed to be at a recovery pace, even took the HRM to make sure I don't work too hard (first ever sensor I used outside). All amounted to nothing - I just couldn't go easy, especially against the headwind and up hills.

On Zwift however, if I plan a session like that I'm always very disciplined, don't mind going at 3mph up a bump. I'm less relaxed outside and am having way too much fun as well, especially with the new hoops.
