I have a kids birthday party in the morning Alan but if you could postpone until maybe 14:00 I’d be free then.
I’m going to jump on later this morning Tommy to leave the afternoon clear to stare out at the rain 🙃

Does anyone here know Kinetic One wheels?

Current wheels on my bike (CaadX 2014) are rugged 32H cyclocross alloy wheels at approx 3KG so looking at upgrade options.

I’m not keen on carbon (primarily because of the environmental aspect - what happens to it eventually, it sits in landfill right?) and Kinetic One do this alloy set:

1.7KG 24H with a 42mm profile. Seems to tick a lot of boxes for me!

It almost seems to good to be true?! Especially compared with the equiv Prime set from Wiggle which are carbon 50mm, the same weight, not made in the UK, and more expensive!

No, but an alternative you might like to consider is Superstar components. They've got a 40% off promo at the moment (until end Feb) if you use the code 40WHEELSET

"We're clearing out our wheelstock for the end of 2021 - these lines will not be restocked, once they're gone, they're gone. Save 40% on wheelsets now using the code 40WHEELSET."

I've been using a set of their Arc Ultra Disc V6 that I bought in June 2020 for 50% off (~£150). I've been very happy with them. I've got about 6.5k miles on them. Running them tubeless and they've been faultless. Just another option to consider.

I was prepared to turn the other cheek when Jamie Oliver came for the turkey twirzlers….But I’m going have to draw a line in the sand if anyone tries comeing after the carbon! :headshake:

(That weight does seem optimistic for what it’s worth)

“CARBON FIBRE COMPOSITES

Several companies now exist to recycle carbon fibre composite waste, including ELG Carbon Fibre in UK. These use variations of a pyrolysis process which thermally decomposes the resin, leaving clean carbon fibres. Some use of chemical recycling processes is active at small scale. Applications include milled and chopped fibres, typically compounded with thermoplastics for strength and electrical conductivity. Increasing quantities are being used in mats which can be commingled with thermoplastic or pre-impregnated with resin, then pressed into parts, e.g. for automotive panels or aircraft interiors.”

So the quest to empty out the outbuilding continues… had a big bonfire yesterday which included the 1970s sofa-bed.

I’ve been using the front wheel of my summer bike on the turbo for the last year, because I only had two front wheels (that and a tri-spoke). Picked up a decent front wheel from Gumtree this afternoon for the princely sum of £5, which includes a tyre and tube. Of course, it doesn’t really need to even be round, but I reckon it’s a bit of a bargain.

Hadn't done a crit for a while and forgot how full on they were
I've been doing one of these regularly, I did one yesterday morning.

I really like them, mainly due to the fact Ive improved my fitness to the point where I can ride with the front runners in my C cat.

Rarely breaks are successful early on in the race. It usually comes down to a big effort up the cobbles and onto the finish. Yesterday four or five went huge power for 30secs 700W+ and got a lead towards the top of the cobbles. I tried with 600+Watts, but just couldn't match them, obviously, then hit the limiter for a few seconds, I managed bursts of effort over the rollers and a very mediocre sprint to steal back one position at the finish for 8th on ZP.

Ive been racing 3 days a week since xmas. I have seen big increases in my power. I do need two days to fully recover
