Yes, 'Why not just use a phone?' was bouncing around my brain but then I realised that even entry level bike computers offer a lot of battery life. I could technically have my current phone in the pocket and hotspot to another (older) phone on the stem but even with a dimmed screen it won't last for 12h... And I won't get the .fit files for other apps.

I've noticed that some places are selling the (discontinued?) Edge 520 for as little as the Edge 130. That looks like a good deal/idea?

The 520 plus is good (if that's what it is). I have it. The only thing it won't have is "climb pro" that the 130 has, but in every other way it's a superior model.

Don't know that site. I paid £177.39 for my 520 plus on Amazon in August 2019.

Yeah, it's picked up here now. A few trees down and power keeps going off. Managed to finish a zwift ride 10 minutes before the power went 😃

Actually, other than the fact that Zwift has made me far too soft to go out in weather like this anyway, the wind direction in Cheddar gorge is never what you think it'll be. The high cliffs and the fact it wiggles around a bit makes the wind blow in all directions. There's been a few times when I've happily thought I'll be blown all the way up with a nice tailwind, only to be met with a full on headwind in the steep bits!
