Hi Del - not sure if Andy's already posted all you need but there's some info and links to instructions to do it here (the update itself worked pretty easily for me) https://zwiftinsider.com/neo-bike-steering/

Thanks Paul

Yes Andy had posted it earlier.

Anyhow, success! It works!!

I’d already done a firmware update on the bike - it just wasn’t the right one!

I had to manually update the IOS app, then I had the option to update the bike firmware to the version supporting steering. The IOS app now supports the Bike Plus features, such as the different manufacturer gear options.

Did a test ride that must have lasted at least 50 meters, ended the ride and Zwift asked me what I felt about my steering experience? 🤣

That Zwift Play controller, that makes companion app useless or nearly useless if you don't wanna give ride-ons or send any messages?.

That was a question for a users in here?. Am I right with that thought?.

It shares a few features. I'm happy enough using a combination of the companion app, apple remote and now the neobike steering that it doesn't feel like enough of a unique feature - it does put a lot of things in one place though, if I didn't have steering if have got it for that.

For all the terribleness of the apple remote I like that it has a button just for powerups

Well it would replace the need for the Companion app for use in-game to activate power ups etc. I guess you might still want the app for the map feature or something? I don't use the companion app hardly at all while in game anyway and haven't for a while, but I do still use it for signing up to events

I don't need power-ups and I don't really have to give ride-on's and no need send any messages. So Zwift Play Controller could be good gadget after all. I think I know all the maps well enough without companion app. I don't need much more features than select the directions on a crossroads and select the first person camera views.

you can send ride-on via the controls, by pressing Z key. I've not seen a way to type text. I have found once I've logged in passed the password then you can navigate around and jump onto your race. I think it just compliments the companion with easier convenience whilst riding.

About those navigation buttons. Zwift website have a one review which says navigation buttons might start to malfunction, more you play harder you need to push navigation buttons. So what kind of experiences you have about durability?.

Too early to say about durability. They devices are water repellent, you can pour your drink all over them. Keys seem well made for the price of the units. I don't know if the introductory price is still available. Up to press I've had two firmware updates, not noticed what they actually improve.
