Anyone doing tour de zwift noticing the tactical use of coffee breaks , Yes it's a "group ride" but let's face it if your at the front it's a race . In group 2 today on the Volcano climb finish route and 4km from the volcano 5 people in the group pop a coffee break !!!!

There’s been a bit of discussion about it on the Zwift Riders Facebook page. I only did the short route today at a gentle pace so everyone shot of ahead so don’t know if it was getting used.

Yes I'm fine with it if your just riding the route in a group at a relaxed pace , but if you've pushed to be in group 2 your racing and using the coffee break to get 3 mins rest before the climb knowing you can't be dropped by the group . I'm just doing it for a good workout so why would I ruin my workout to have a coffee break and finish top 80 instead of top 100 ,it's not like my group was ever going to contest the win

I think it's stupid but it's also quite funny. After all it's a group ride that many many people treat as a race.

So, having said that, if someone is treating it like a race and gets upset about that, they should probably do a real race instead of racing a group ride. Idiots everywhere

The really funny one was as I crested the volcano in a group of 2 the other rider popped a coffee break ? So as I accelerated so did he ,so I just rolled down at 0 watts and as riders past us his avatar sped up a bit just to drop back to me . As we hit one of the uphill ramps we almost stopped then he accelerated so I drafted him for the next 3km 😂

I don't care much about that coffee break function in Zwift but if you join tour de Zwift and middle of a event you stop pedaling without coffee break function and actually go to kitchen make a coffee, drink it, read the news paper and then return back to event and cross the finish banner front of a group, that would be something.

This was the real race, and you are the real winner 🏆

Lately on Zwift I have just been badge hunting of every sort, route and achievement, watched a video by some guy on how to get the 100 kmh badge riding the mountain 8 route, worked a treat , got a aero power up first time through the arch at the begining, rode up on a light bike and wheels, changed to a bog standard zwift TT bike but with DTswiss Disc wheel hit , hit the aero power up at the 12.8 km mark and got 106 kph fairly easily on the down hill, I was quite surprised as I am fairly small at 5ft 5 and not got a lot of watts. Only had to hit 500Watts max.

Here's how I did it. Get an aero. Climb Epic KoM. Switch to a TT rig. Enjoy

I hit over 110kmh down Bologna a few weeks ago

There was a guy doing it in my TDZ, someone called him out, just before the leg snapper. He then dropped 6W/kg up the climb left everyone for dead.

I was going to wait till I got the Cadex Tri but did not have enough points so just used the standard Zwift TT, you started off using less watts than me at the start, I sprinted off from the get go at the top. Like me you did not have to use that many watts, I watched some other peoples vids and they were hitting 1,000 watts or roundabouts. Someone suggested being a short arse helps with the aero effect, dont know if Zwift goes that deep on effects etc.

Yes they do. Height is part of their physics.

I think I can get all badges apart from the runner ones and I am never going to get the 1,000 1,100 or 1200 watt badge or the under 60 minutes for alp du zwift ( or whatever its called) unless I a) put a load of weight on, b) lose a load of weight . Oh or off course C which is cheat.
