Tiny Races do use max ZRS in last 30 days now.

But in pens D and E, without a seed score improvement, a win is usually less than 10 points, so a ~40 point cushion would be enough.

Stronger pens get more points, so I could easily see you needing ~80 point cushion in pen B.

I don't seem even to be able to do four of them these days anyway. Even in C I don't think I've done more than two in a row this year.

I did about 18 months of on and off ladder when it first came out. Had some really fun races and some really unbalanced ones when our opponents were just tonnes better. The well balanced ones are so much fun, but the unbalanced ones are like "catting up" - you just get dropped early and TT home.
But that is exactly what it's like in a real-world tennis club ladder. The best person in the club sometimes has to play the worst.

I had some epic races, but the rest of the guys got stronger and they tightened the rules so I'm not in that team any more as you can only span 3 vELO cats now.

Yeah I can imagine that - I've only done two so far and they've both been pretty well balanced so I've been lucky

I did "Fresh Outta" today as a last-minute decision. As a 517 I could only do it in the 510-650 pen. I held on for 28 minutes and got dropped at the start of the final punchy climb. I was 23rd of 24 at that point and about a minute ahead of the last guy. He was clearly not in a hurry either, so I took my time after that. I'm 510 now, so still not allowed in the lower pen, but one more race like that and I would be.
I also did this yesterday in C cat range 330 to 450 . Got dropped just over the top of the 2nd climb despite being only 1 sec slower that 1st ascent blew up after a 15 sec sprint desperately trying to latch back on . Waited for a small group and we slowly clawed the gap back to 2 secs just before the 3rd climb where the gap went out and our group settled in for a sprint for 20th place . Came 2nd out of the group in the sprint which I was quite pleased with 16th on zp . Checking the times I'm amazed to have been 6 secs quicker than Alex

Got a chest infection at the moment so no racing this week. May try the odd Z1/Z2 if I get the chance. Slightly annoying as getting back into Zwifting is good, so frustrating that the past week has been flaky! Oh well, health first I guess.

Went to see a GP this morning and was prescribed some antibiotics and a steroid inhaler, so hopefully I'll be back on the right track before too long. Hope you feel better soon, Carl. x

I literally had no incentive to push after getting dropped, so I dawdled the last 1.5km having worked very hard for 28 minutes.
The guy behind me seemed determined to be last. It didn't matter how easy I pedalled the gap didn't close.

I presumed that was the case as our group after lap 2 rode steadyish once we realised the front had gone which is why I was so surprised I was faster

Hope the meds kick in and help :hugs:

I have my asthma steroids that I take daily (pinkie) and my blue inhaler that I take when needed (also daily at the moment). I'm hoping these keep me safe but if I get worse I'll nip to the docs too (if I can get an appointment)

I quite enjoyed ZRL today. Managed to hold onto the front group to the final climb, which was my plan A...

We got 2nd as a team and 3rd overall for the round.

Great effort. Good discipline to hold onto the feather so long on the climb and well paced.

From a quick watch it looks like a sizeable enough front group before it blew apart on the climb? Hoping people will not push pace too much before so I have some matches to burn

That's always a tricky one. You want to be able to use it on the steepest section you can, but not wait until you haven't got any power left to amplify.

We didn't drop many along the way. There's a couple of 1 minute punches near the start and a 2 minute punch in the middle where a few people fell off, but we had 34 (of 43) in the front group by the start of the final climb.

That was my hope. The escalators didn't cause any separation at all. Someone said there was a breakaway attempt, but I didn't notice it
It was fairly routine, but we had to work quite hard on the punchy bits.

EEK two of our riders got Code 6ed but we still got 3rd in the league.

2 win in a row for Paul, with me in 2nd and Bram in 5th.

Provisional results have us just in 1st for the round and 4th in the league which is a great result following some really challenging TTT technical issues. That could easily change but doesn't really matter.

Race very much as you described Alex. A few breakaway attempts, nothing too serious but a pretty serious pace to the foot of the climb then the best man won.

Hope you recorded that Paul!

Well it turns out ZRL wins are like buses - you wait years for one and two come along together! Shame the series is ending just as I hit good form!

1st and 2nd for me and Michael and 5th for Bram - despite a very last minute joining of the race! Great results individually but also for the team and our first team win of the series.

I was really happy with how I paced the climb and how I felt - I tried to stay right at the front the whole time and attacked earlier than those around me and it worked!
