I think we started from different pens this week . I put out 13 more watts than last week but only took a second of my time . Strange one this week legs felt awful warming up despite a day of the bike yesterday after 20 consecutive days but managed more power in race 1 , annoyingly averaged 299w for the 2 mins still hunting 300 .

Well done all Friday Smashers. Surprised to see Martin in both races, but that was a good thing. I doubt the TT bike makes more than a second or two difference on a race that short. You made me work very hard on that final climb to stay ahead of you.

Phil and I still hold the attendance prize. Current league standings are...

I think we were front pen, so can't have been any further forward last week. I was a second faster in race 1 with slightly less power ^_^
Must have been different wind conditions.

I suspect what we're seeing is the difference in WHERE you apply that power. If you push more power on the "climby" bits you probably gain more from that than doing it on the flat.

Very interesting to watch that final climb from your point of view. My goal in escaping with the early burst was to get you right out of the draft. Obviously from in front, I couldn't tell where you were wrt line (apart from the moving of the distance marker), but for the most part the twisty course did the job for me. It seemed like each time you almost got back in the draft there was another bend.
I guess I could have done the "look back" thing, but I was more focussed on working really hard to stay ahead.

Yep steering really does add something doesn't it.

I think so. I like it. I try not to be a total dick with draft denying, but perhaps turn earlier or later than expected on a twisty route to enhance the draft denying effect. Weaving left and right all over the place doesn't really gain you anything - just means you have to ride further  which can't be efficient.

Your legs felt awful BECAUSE you had the day off

Is anyone going for the bike swap in the ZRL on Tuesday? Not an option of apple TV folk and seems a marginal decision at best but might make sense in D cat? Or if you do it as a strong team
