I think the Scotland routes make good racing Loch Loop *2 ,Rolling Highlands or Dun dash for an uphill finish

We did Dun Dash once a while back. I remember that being fun. Let's do it again. :okay:

I've swapped my bike to a Allez. First requirement is 100km. No mention of elevation required

I thought the bike had to used for climbing elevation to upgrade?

There's three kinds of bikes for upgrades. Some need distance, some need time and some need elevation. (What he said ☝️)
Obviously I have chosen to make life hard by going for a high-end climbing bike

Once I've done the Aethos, it would probably be more sensible for me to go with an Allez for Spesh bike #3 rather than the Crux which I don't use anyway. But we'll see when the time comes. Still got 7000m 🏔️ to go on the Aethos. The upgrades are quite expensive too. 1.9 mill for high-end vs 400k for entry-level.

In many respects it's a shame that gravel bikes are now useless. I can remember some fun and games with bike swaps and tactics that used to be part of the mix. It seems ridiculous to me that I am considering buying an Allez that I will never use JUST to go the easier and cheaper upgrade route  (ironically I use a REAL Allez on my trainer as my permanent Zwift bike)

Its a shame really about gravel bikes. So much dirt climbing or long sections. It makes it more interesting to either swap a bike mid race or pick a bike you know will have good performance on the rough stuff. Compromising a bit of speed on road sections to get the advantage later.

I remember doing a tiny race where half the pack where on gravel and rest on road bikes. I had to turn myself inside out hanging on for dear life, then plowing through the field to get top 5 on the gravel finishing section

Yeah all those tactical decisions are gone by the wayside now. Unless you're riding circuits of the jungle, a gravel bike is always going to be worse than a maxed out SL8.

When they upgraded Watopia to send so many routes through the jungle I think they had to make a compromise, but instead of killing dirt they should have paved the jungle

A big day on Zwift yesterday for morning did Alex's Friday smash in the morning , Race 1 a smash around Crit City 1 lap ,recorded 2nd highest power for that 293w , then Bologna up and down ,not by best race but recorded my 2nd best time up the climb but died at the top . Then the team I do ZLR with do ladder races on Friday nights . Course Innsbruck ring and the leg snapper twice . One of the opposition went hard straight out of the gate 3 of us followed but he kept pressed on so we let him go as we had 3 against 1 in our little pack .At the bottom of the snapper leader had 15 secs the 3 of us hit it hard and dropped the other rider and passed the leader as we crested . We kept the pace on over the top and gapped him so it turned into a TTT for 15km to the end .At the end we decided to gift the win to our teammate who won last week by a solo breakaway but got dqed for no HRM so 2nd for me . Team won 32 20 . My legs ache this morning

I updated the SL8 then the Aethos, I had a Venge in the garage so updated that, its never used, I am currently trying to update the Specialized Project 74 Halo bike, its a long job, just completed the third upgrade, the next I have to ride 2150k then use a shed load of drops to upgrade.
Since updating the Aethos I have improved several of my climbing PBs so not a complete waste of time.

Once I get the P74, I will park it in the garage, being it out for special occasions.

I'll jump over to upgrading the Tron bike. This will be my default bike for everything

Bonkers. So THAT's why you were saving yourself in Bologna

Have you forgotten that you're supposed to be an old git with crap recovery?

Well done. Sounds like a great race in Innsbruck

Actually I have one of those I haven't used since the Pinarello came out summer 2024. But I bet it's also a high-end so expensive and lengthy upgrade for a bike I'll never use again. Decisions, decisions

I've also noticed that since working on the Aethos I'm getting better at climbing. But I still can't say it's my favourite thing

Have you got loads of drops? I think buying a Halo bike is 10 million, then upgrading it is about the same again. So to buy the P74 AND upgrade the Tron you'll need 20 million (plus the cost of upgrading 3 Zwift bikes to level 5)
I've got about 7 million but I keep spending it on upgrades at the moment.

It's all going to take forever - and that's probably the idea  It's nice to have something to work towards once you've run out of xp levels ^_^

I've got about 12 million drops.

I won't do the upgrades to the P74. Take far too long. I like the Tron bike, and when Carl posted you could upgrade it too, I prefer to use that instead of anything else.

It's not like the marginal difference between each bike is going to win me any races any time soon.
