Bonkers. So THAT's why you were saving yourself in Bologna

Have you forgotten that you're supposed to be an old git with crap recovery?

Well done. Sounds like a great race in Innsbruck
The evening race was on my mind when you were up the road in the downhill and I was deciding wether to chase or not . I am trying to train my way out of lack of recovery but can't do anything about the old git bit 🤣. Our captain picked Innsbruck because he wasn't riding 😂 but selection proved perfect as our team had the top 3 ( teams of 4) 1 minute power which is perfect for the snapper

I've got about 12 million drops.

I won't do the upgrades to the P74. Take far too long. I like the Tron bike, and when Carl posted you could upgrade it too, I prefer to use that instead of anything else.

It's not like the marginal difference between each bike is going to win me any races any time soon.

OK so 10 will buy you the P74 and 2 can go towards the Tron upgrades (or the bikes you will need to upgrade to be able to start upgrading the Tron  ). Obvs you will earn more as you do the km for the upgrade. And it will take a long time. We might all have aero socks by then too

Performance by Upgrade Stage

Like all frames in Zwift, the Concept Z1 can be upgraded in five stages, with each upgrade resulting in a performance improvement. The Concept Z1’s upgrade stages are as follows:
  1. Ride 550km, pay 400,000 Drops for an aero upgrade
  2. Ride 1050km, pay 800,000 Drops for a weight reduction
  3. Ride 1600km, pay 1,200,000 Drops for a drivetrain efficiency improvement
  4. Ride 2150km, pay 2,600,000 Drops for an aero upgrade
  5. Ride 2650km, pay 5,000,000 Drops for a weight reduction

I've decided im going to swap to Tron upgrade path instead.

See you on a crappy Zwift bike 🤣

I'm just glad they haven't added the option to buy drops for actual money yet

Slippery slope that. Pretty sure they made a declaration somewhere about never allowing paid upgrades.

But then we get race mode and Zwift Plays with steering, virtual gears etc.

Cycling has always been pay to help you win, but I also would draw the line at actual cash for virtual tokens.
I don't mind buying hardware. I like steering and think it's fun. I was trying so hard to push @13 rider out of the draft yesterday, but it really doesn't work all that well  I demand a refund.

It didn't work because I was doing it to you at the same time 😂

Looks like a good decision,

A fully upgraded Project 74 is superior on flat, fast routes, outperforming the Tron (Concept Z1) by roughly 10 seconds over an hour. However, the Tron remains a more versatile, faster all-arounder for rolling terrain, while the Project 74 is poor on climbs.

Comparison Breakdown:
  • Flat/Fast Routes (e.g., Tempus Fugit): The fully upgraded Project 74 is the fastest road bike, beating the Tron by about 10 seconds per hour.
  • Rolling/Hilly Routes: The fully upgraded Tron holds the edge due to better all-around performance, as the Project 74 is one of the worst climbers among top-tier bikes.
  • Upgrading Time/Cost: Upgrading the Tron is an immense task (8,000km, 10 million drops).

The thing that gets me is that a level 5 SL8 is maybe 2s slower than a level 5 P74 on the flat over an hour, which is nothing at all. But SL8 is a lot faster if there's any climbing involved. SL8 is definitely the low-hanging fruit, but upgrading halos is something to do for fun once you've levelled up all the bikes you might use for racing.

Yes the SL8 is my go to ride, with the Aethos brought out for the occasional hard climb, I think updating the Halo bike is keeping me riding more than normal, I can't decide if its a good or bad thing.

I started upgrading the Pinarello Dogma first as I hadn't bought the SL8 at that point, so that's now at level 4, as is my Aethos. Cadex Tri is still only at level 2. Right now when I do reach a new upgrade level, to buy it typically wipes out 80% of my drops and by the time I get it back up to a reasonable drops level again, it's time to pay for another upgrade!

I did them in order of how much I will use them...

1st SL8
2nd CadEx Tri
3rd Aethos (ongoing)

I just thought I'd signed up to Glyph Heights and was surprised when I ended up riding Ocean Lava Cliffside. Turns out this was a much more suitable route for my current state than the climbier one. A happy accident. Still got some Aethos credits, but maybe saved a bit of energy to fight the cold I've picked up.
