Star wars episode iv, a new hope. The original and best 1977 jobby
PEDANT ALERT:
The 1977 version was just called "Star Wars". The "Episode IV" and "A New Hope" was added in later for the VHS release.

BTW the sound in the 1977 theatrical release is terrible. There is music pretty much the whole way through the film that is often louder than the dialogue. What I'd really like to see is a remastered version with better sound but none of the rubbish visual effects they later added in. I've seen mention of "despecialised" editions on the internet but probably not entirely above board!

I am sorry, I just don't get it. I watched the original when I was a teenager and thought - Meh! I never bothered with any others, it is not a girl thing though Daughter (17) loves them.
far too old.

I can't believe this didn't click when I went to see the film in December. The wording of the opening crawl for The Force Awakens mirrors a plot from an episode of George and Mildred. Un-bee-lee-vable!

When I saw Star Wars in the cinema back in 1977 I thought Close Encounters of the Third Kind was a better film & when the big ship came over near the end and they had the sound up in the cinema it was awesome :okay:

Actually it was for the 1981 theatrical re-release. The first home video release of Star Wars still had the title as Star Wars:

I'd avoid star wars altogether. It's not as if the plot is any good and the effects have long since been surpassed.

Try 2001 and if the boy is old enough, the box set of firefly.

Followed by Serenity :okay:
These people are of sound mind .

If you feel really mean you could inflict Babylon 5 on him, I have all 5 series on dvd .........
