That may be one of the areas where more expensive helmets have benefits. The straps often seem to be thinner/softer/better designed.
I know my old Giro helmet was comfy enough but the straps were a bit thick and seemed to dig in a bit whereas the Specialized I purchased off a member on here seems to have softer straps that sit more comfortably.
For me the best helmet exists is Specialized Prevail, but is too expensive if you want use it only to go to the work. I think an half quality Bell it could be the right choose for you (others brands make nice helmets only for pro level)
Another Propero 2 here - used to have a Giro Monza that was pretty good. All helmets look ridiculous on me as I have a teeny tiny head - the spesh does not help with this to be sure, but it is very comfy, feels secure and has nice thin straps.
