Wow, that was hot, hot, hot out there today.
6 of us at HPC this morning. Myself, Mark, Mr V for Vengedetta, Aperitif, Musa and His Royal Sereneness Topcat1.
We knew we would be heading off to Ally Pally so no faffing around deciding where to go.
A lap of Hyde Park with a quick stop at BentMikey's workplace but once again he's was probably still in bed. And we will have to have to have words about all the chalky mess these skaters leave all over the road.
So we sped off to Ally Pally, fighting our way along a very bus congested Oxford Street. In Regent's Park to draft some serious roadies who thought they were fast
. Through Camden Town where I was horrified to see my old work office over looking the canal now a few piles of demolished bricks and concrete.
Then it was the long slog up to Ally Pally. At least the approach road has been very nicely re-tarmacked so lovely and smooth to the top. And a cracking view it was today too.
We decamped into the Cafe to chew the fat, chew some food and do a little bit of people watching. And would you believe it, we saw our very first Cycle Chat jersey in the wild.... and not only that.. it was one of the brand new ones I posted out on Friday. Phil recognised me, but to my embarrassment me not him... and then it clicked. We rode together on a Maldon Speedy Ride for Food last year.
So back down to London Taahn for us. A lovely downhill 'most' of the way and back to Hyde Park. We where going for another coffee but due to the Proms In The Park all the coffee huts were absolutely heaving with people.. oh well.
So I decided to split for home.. took Musa with me and left him to turn for home at the Oval whilst I hit for home along my normal working day commute.
72 miles on the clock for today.. boy it was hot and sunny.
Cheers all for the company.
And oh yes.. we saw Ed in Regent's Park... we recognised the bike before we recognised Ed... the skates should have given us a better clue.
