It was a car and it was her fault :-)

Anyway - I'm having a night mare with the gears ( my real weak point here )

First off - is my rear mech in the right place ? ( angle etc)

Put it in the smallest sprocket and feed the cable in, because that doesn't look right tbh.

It isn't right I do t think as it won't move gears and stays in the 7th sprocket

With no cables it should be in the smallest sprocket - limiter screw needs sorting.

Read read read... I wouldn't try and ask tbqh...

It looks like it needs to move almost 90degrees towards the floor.

Duh was the limit screws

But I dunno- it only seems to shift the cable in 4 gears

( god I'm making myself look real stoopid tonight )

Not, certainly not with the bike in smallest ring and near smallest ring on the cassette

Just basing the statement on how the mechs on my bikes look.
