It's interesting, referenda in Australia almost always go to the status quo, even for a no-brainer like the republican referendum, with a few notable exceptions. I think this is because voting is compulsory in Australia. OK, you don't have to mark the ballot, but you get fined if you don't turn up or get a postal ballot.

Getting your name on the top of a ballot is worth 1-2% in Australia. That would have probably made the difference here.

My brian says a remain win but my intuition says a surprise win for Leave.
If I have to put figures on it ~4% more for Leave

I suspect the turnout will be high as every vote counts, unlike a lot of seats in a General Election.....78% turnout

I think the Remains will win by a bit more than folk think. Those undecideds will go for the status quo....Remain 56%, Leave 44%
