about time the FA/FIFA etc introduced a wage cap on clubs. It has gone beyond a joke and distanced Joe Public from their teams.

I used to travel up to Anfield, but the last two seasons I got fed up with the daft money being paid to players, so I cancelled SkySports and now I go watch any local football, be it village or non league.

I've got park at the end of my street where one of the Sunday leagues play fixtures. Occassionaly I'll stop and watch and I'm always pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it is to watch. No matter how fat, old or slow they are, they always put 100% into it. Great stuff.

As Simon has said above and I have mentioned myself a few times before, why footballers? No-one complains when some doped up alcohol sodden reprobate earns a fortune strumming a guitar.

He's such an honest player, never looks to go down or dive, has such dedication, and religious values. Not like the big time charlies who play for other teams that you see stumbling out of clubs on a saturday night.

if that's true he may well do what ayrton senna (another devout brazilian) did, and that was set up numerous charitable foundations for (in his case) the street kids of brazil.

it is amazing how these less fit, slightly out of condition and beer swilling Sunday league players seem to be able to ride a tackle and not fall over like a sniper got them!

A few using the free market worth argument here. I seem to remember Lehman Bros using that one to defend the £8 billion bonus they gave to their city boys!
Most clubs are losing money so you could say that a salary cap or transfer fee aerbitration would actually benefit clubs who feel they have to compete.

Socialism has no place in sport, it's all about winners and losers. If Man City or Chelsea go bust because their super-rich foreign backers pull the plug the game won't suffer one jot. Replacement clubs from the Conference will automatically ensure the league continues with it's full quota of 92, it isn't like losing a car factory or a retail chain.
