Actually there are discrepancies.

There are cheap helmets that pass the Snell tests, and expensive helmets such as Giro which are not Snell certified. As the vents increase the less foam there is to absorb an impact and the less effective the helmet becomes.

Lighter, cooler, more comfortable, better systems to keep the helmet on your head in a crash, meet higher safety specs.

Not the case.......... there are NO helmets today that meet the Snell B95 standard that most helmets met fifteen years ago.

The unfortunate fact is that helmets work on the compression of a foam. Less foam is less protection in accidents.

The "better specs" is something that manafacturers would love you to believe, but sadly is a myth.

The specialized Chamonix for instance passes the highest standards and is fully Snell certified at £19.99!
