28mm - which is the standard size tyre on the bike.

I'd go for biggs cb - looks rather fine to me. Failing that I'd go for the carrera. The others you've listed are shite IMO. Halfords don't have the best rep for customer service, but I'd rather be dealing with them than Amazon, sports direct etc.

How about a Wilier Asolo?
I got one for £200, delivered, from the UK distributors on eBay.
I've now done a couple of hundred miles on it and I'm very impressed. It's light, quick and handles really well.
It will take a rack and mudguards as well - ideal commuter bike.
Thoroughly recommended.

suspension is no use imho if you are just tootling back and forwards and only good suspension is worth having off road , so i would avoid any suspension .

@banana4life if you've got a limited budget it makes more sense to get a good used. You don't need suspension, it's just extra weight for little comfort.

You need to make sure you get the correct size.
