Premier League football is a British export success story. If every industry was run as successfully as football we would all be laughing, economically speaking.

Think of the money this country makes from taxation of football that would otherwise have to come from elsewhere

In terms of anthropology, football is an excellent channelling of young male testosterone from both the perspective of watching and taking part. Governments around the world know this.

More foolish are the silly folk who pay to go and watch them or pay stupidly high priced subscriptions the watch it on TV. And finally, would you want his face, £300k per week or not, looks like a short version of shrek!!
Harsh and unnecessary personal criticism there, I assume George Clooney and Pierce Brosnan cry down the phone to one another that they don't have your chiselled features.

He'll earn my lifetime salary in a month, good luck to him, I wish my talents were that marketable.

I am sure I read somewhere that the football contracts at TAX paid i.e. the club pays the TAX, the amount stated is what the football gets in their hand at the end of each week.
I have heard this as well, John Terry and Didier Drogber at Chelsea were the first to get this type of deal some years back.

It's nothing like 60K. To pay 10K in income tax and NI with a "normal" tax code your would have a salary of about 40K

I never mentioned NI but will admit I hadn't realised that the higher rate of tax had dropped so much. (never been in a position to be effected!)

Average wage in the UK is still only £26.5k btw. so to say average NI would be £10k is still way out.
