At that price I'd want to be able to insist on no decals, stickers, as I object to being a moving advertising board.

Try moving a bit faster, then no-one will see them anyway! ;)

At least a tandem with slave power at the rear

At the front!!? - you don't want to be steering, not for £5k.

Do you know I think we've arrived at the perfect £5k bike - a rickshaw with an illegal immigrant doing the legwork - that sort of money should pay the wage for a few years. ;)

Hmmm, you have a point but I'm not so keen on the wages bit

Eventually decided on my bike. I am going for a Ridley Helium, specced with SRAM Red. I now need to decide on a wheelset and frame colour.

For 5K I'd expect wheels and paint to be included!

If that is a picture of your new bike:

1. very nice indeed; very flashy
2. It already has wheels and paint!?

Focus make some nice bikes for about 2K

You could give the change to charity.

Probably too late now though if you've already bought the Ridley. De-Rosa aren't bad.

The picture is the Demo bike my LBS gave me for the weekend. Brand new and set up with some reasonable kit to allow me to get the feel of it. My budget does include wheels and all finishing kit. It does in fact look like I will not spend as much as planned xx(
