I watched it all this year, normally we bail out after the auditions.

It is inoffensive Saturday night TV. Yes, it lines Simon Cowell's pockets, but any successful TV show produces cash for someone. Good luck to him, he is a clever business man.

As for the "talent" I have to say that they are not my taste at all, but you can't deny that Joe can certainly hold a tune. I predict he'll be more successful in the West End rather than the pop charts (Christmas no 1 excluded). There are worse things to get worked up about!

Can you see TV in five years time?
From when breakfast news finishes at 8am up to 11pm (when nearly everyone will be in bed), it's gonna be end to end programmes of people making twats of themselves in the name of their 15 minutes of fame.

I think we're getting pretty close to the dismal level of television portrayed in the film, The Running Man...

How is it imposed on us?

Actually watching isn't, but the media hype over what is basically a cheap TV program means that those of us who have chosen not to watch it are subjected to a constant commentary on it via various other forms of media, radio, newspapers etc, who seem to think that relative performances of the contestants in some way make for a newsworthy item.

Some people even post threads about it on internet forums. Imagine that.
