Hi have you seen the 11 speed brompton at fudges cycle store? They have customised a bike to 11 speed weights 300g more than a 6 speed brompton. Price £1, 649.99
Standard gearing on a 6 speed Brom is 33 to 99 inches or so. That'll get me up a 1:10 hill, or up to 40 mph. If I need wider than that I'll drop a compact chainset on for a bottom gear of 19 inches. That's ridiculously low. Granted, stopping and moving the chain isn't exactly instantaneous but if you're needing lower than a 33" gear then a stop is probably on the cards anyway!
Reduced gearing offered on the 6-speed has a range of 28" to 85". For steeper climbs I use my 24" gear, or two feet. Top gear allows pedalling to above 22 mph, quite fast enough on the flat. Downhill my maximum recorded is 39 mph. I don't need anything else.
