This is my latest acquisition, it wasn't planned, but this was pointed in my direction - how could I refuse!

Flyer, c1960 on an H prefix no. 531 frame, 23.5" with Carlton long line lugs. Carlton supplied forks with a shorter rake to give fag paper clearances. 10-speed half step gearing should be interesting on the Devon hills... period Campag mechs, Bayliss Wiley large flange hubs. Due to close clearance on forks fitted with Weinmann 500s. Williams chainset, 27x 1-1/8" tyres. Still setting the bike up as I've only picked it up today. It's been fully repainted and restored at Mercian in Derby. Very much looking forward to getting this one out on the road, will be kept in racing trim.

Very nice :smile: Like the way the brake blocks are at the top of a set of Weinmann 500's :smile: Should ride very nicely as all Carlton's did.

class bike ....

thats a definate keeper, but if you do decide to sell it one day, you will get top dollar :okay:

I'd change the bar tape though to suit the saddle .... there are some really good leather bartape available:
http://lehcyclinggoods.com/

something like this, but maybe a bit darker: (from the link that I supplied):

they do custom bartape, so you choose the colour and style and they make it .... here is a darker leather from their site:

.... and I'd add a brass Crane bell on the handlebar stem ....

plus if you need a waterbottle, ... the Kleen Kanteen Reflect with the Velo Orange stainless steel bottle holder as in the above photo

LOL .... that's just my thoughts and what I would do , but you have a cracking bike! (Great saddle aswell) ....

Use it on a few L'Eroica rides:becool: ....

I'm GREEN with envy Spokesmann - ! That is a beauty - !
But what is the purpose of what appear to be two pop rivets protruding from the Carlton badge on the steering tube - ?
And why did flanged hubs fall from favour - ? I always thought they looked good on a road bike; 'racey' you might say - ? Arrgghh - ! :laugh:
