Do you have a picture of the light itself to jog my memory

The first link is to a halogen bulb and the second to a Krypton bulb. I'm sure it was a Krypton bulb in these lights, but could the halogen one be brighter? No idea myself.

Good luck

PS - Is this what they call a "Light Bulb Moment"?

Some nostalgic pictures of ever ready lights

The ones I was thinking of are the two on the left on the first picture, but I've used several of the others as well.

Halogen is the brightest bulbs you can get for that application, Halogen also doesn't darken the glass over time thus the light output is constant, halogen also lasts longer-at least twice as long.

Being an older person I remember a lot about all these bulbs, so there is a word of caution in regards to handling a halogen bulb, DO NOT TOUCH THE BULB EVER, even in the installation of the bulb, you cannot touch it, use a small piece of paper towel to keep your oils off of the glass to handle the bulb with, even if you accidentally touch the glass you won't be able to successfully get all the oil off. Because Halogen runs hotter the bulbs will start to cook your oil and the bulb will self-destruct.

If you search the bulb model most of the non-threaded ones now have LED replacement bulbs for them, I haven't found any LED bulbs for the threaded bulbs. If your's have an LED bulb cross reference for it, you might be able to find a brighter one than the normal replacement LED bulb.
