I remember hand held torches having threaded bulbs but not those in my 80s era ever ready bike lights.

I mind of the days of the Eveready rear 'torpedo lamp'; grey plastic with a big round red 'glass'. Not forgetting the metal front lamp available in black or black, but latterly silver. Barely water resistant, unless you were really dedicated, ther batteries pack inevitably corroded during the year requiring replacement of lamp and battery every fifteen months or so.
