About 30 years ago I had to go for glasses but only for distance (short sighted). I have to take glasses off to read, type etc. As a teacher I'm always leaving my glasses somewhere around the classroom. As an artist, I struggle to either see what I've drawn/painted or what I'm trying to draw/paint. Tried varifocals but couldn't get on with them. I'm due an eye test soon and think my close focus is going a little so will need bi or varifocals soon.
Still don't have any slippers though :becool:.

I have so far managed to avoid reading glasses though a fair number of my friends have succumbed. And I have the odd grey/white hair but it's still something you have to hunt for. However I've been having a few headaches and I think one of my eyes have deteriorated so the appointment is booked. The receptionist rang me back to tell me I wasn't due an appointment for another year which I did think that as I am in my late 40's and likely to have changing vision and the fact that I wanted one. Yes I know I have to pay but I was still a little surprised that she checked I did want the appointment.

For me it's the appearance of extra hairs that is more annoying! Or hairs that suddenly seem to belong to Dennis Healy!

I always have a good beard trim, then do eyebrows, before trip to barbers. I got fed up being asked if I wanted them done. She still does ear lobes which I always miss.

No grey hairs but strangely a few pure white ones on the sides accompanied by pure white nostril and ear hairs , so can shave them all off , my father when he was my age looked like Alistair Darling with pure grey hair and jet black eyebrows.

I've never trusted folks with white hair and black eyebrows. I had a tutor at college like that. He once told me that if I needed some resources, mid way through a lesson (PGCE course) to, "Weave a little magic".

Aye well , Mr Darling if you have watched him debating about Scottish independence is being anything but honest!

I've had glasses for about twenty years, the grey hair? I've had that for that long I've forgotten when when it first appeared, I wear the grey with pride, battle scar's gained from living and fighting life's battles.

Father went to his grave at over 90 without a grey hair on his full head of hair, although if he had kept his beard after retiring there would have been a sprinkling around his chin. He never needed reading glasses (or any sort of glasses) either, although that could be due to his reading habits, he was never known to possess a book.
