Just spent a week in a bargain tent from millets at my parents. (darwin, eurohike) great bargain, didn't let in the rain but a bit thin for a proper holiday.

You can get the Vango your looking at from them, and might/should be able to get a discount on your accerssories aswell.
Worth a look in and ask.

Why not just get the kids their own tent and place it adjacent to, or facing, your own. Cover the gap with a large tarpaulin and have extra space.

The last time I went camping we had two long wheel base Land Rovers back to back and a large tarp over the gap so we had a living/cooking space with standing height where 6 of us would lounge around under cover during the wet evenings. We slept two in the back of each land Rover with a third vehicle parked nearby.

I did. want sleeping areas sep. and similar size to the diablo, which Khyham do you think is similar?

Look at the family range in my last link. They have a central area with sleeping apartments opposite each other. Generally the centre is quick erect, like a big umbrella and the two outers have large poles threaded. Takes about 5 mins to put up the main area and say 20-30 minutes total for a fully poled and guyed tent which is very solid. I am regretting selling mine now.

So am I, prob. would have given you a better price! found one that looks good, double the price of the vango, is it worth it?

Good question. For summer only occasional use, maybe not. Extend the season slightly or go somewhere a bit wilder (Scotland maybe), use it more often, yes, it is. I have a Vango now, good tent it will do me for weekends but it's not a patch on the Khyam.

We were going to go tenting as a family, instead of just me, my dad and brother going.
Then we got this

to answer earlier questions,

the vango is towards but not on the upper size limit of a pitch for most camp sites, they often have two price bands a standard pitch and a large pitch.

my friends have had problems with having a separate small tent for their kids this year in that many camp sites want to charge for an extra pitch instead of allowing the small tent on the same pitch.

there are many companies make tents like that and if you know what your doing they're not too hard to put up or down in bad weather

getting them down in bad weather is about keeping it as dry as possible while / by bundling it up into its bags and going with the plan of putting it up and letting it dry off in your garden the next day.
