Was listening to the radio the other day and they suggested that 2010 was the year for remakes and sequels, in terms of remakes they were certainly not wrong, in the next year or so they are releasing the following remakes:

The A Team
Tron
Robin Hood
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Clash of the Titans
Footloose
Highlander
Robocop
Red Dawn
The Blob
The Lone Ranger
Short Circuit
Rosemary's Baby
Poltergeist
An American Werewolf in London
Total Recall
Straw Dogs

Some of those worry me as the originals were awesome and some of my fondest childhood movies! Surely there has to be some original idea's for movies left? :cheers::angry::B)

Ehh, which of these do you think are awesome? Most of these worry me too but for completely different reasons!

For their time;

Highlander = Simply Awesome
Tron = Cutting Edge (well to a 5 year old it was)
Robin Hood (Erol Flynn version) = Awesome
The A Team = Entertained multiple generations
Clash of the Titans = mesmerising

The rest were all very popular and acclaimed films stop being a moody, grumpy old sod!

Last few years have been year of the remakes haven't they?

But I agree, I have very fond childhood memories of Rosemary's Baby, Poltergeist and Straw Dogs too - all nursery favourites!

Remakes are nothing new, they've been doing them since movies began, and I think some are pretty good. Unfortunately I think the standard of films in general is rather superficial and shallow at the moment. Americans boil the taste out of everything and think adding sugar is suitable compensation.

Some films should be remade. Like Judge Dredd for instance.

It's sad really when they feel they have to remake all this stuff. Some will probably be alright though.

Do you think it's got something to do with the writers strike a while back that instead of new stuff they just decided to remake things. Still requires writers but I'm sure not very original ones when the main story is already there to adapt.

I'm not surprised they are remaking Total Recall and Highlander and several of the others. They've wanted to or already redone so many things in the 80s as that sort of thing has come back into fashion now and you can do special effects so much better in a so much worse way very easily.

Most of them don't other me, except Highlander which is a classic. You'll tell me they'll be doing Blade Runner next.

I think it just shows a complete lack of imagination and balls in Hollywood. It's one of the reasons why the movie business doesn't get much of my hard earned cash.

I have seen the trailer for the remake of Nightmare On Elm Street... looks complete pants... the original, now looking very dated was an excellent movie for that time

you forgot The Crazies.

It's yet another George A Romero remake (Dawn Of The Dead).

I saw the Romero original when the BBC used to have a horror double bill on late. It was very scary I recall. (made in 1973)
