Oooh very nice. I think I remember, did you start a thread about the Pinarello and another option ? If it was then I said the Pinarello.

Yes, you remember correctly .... you must have an iron will to not get on your lovely new Mason and ride off into the sunset :notworthy:

8000 miles plus in 2020, didn't set out with that as a goal but when it became apparent that it was achievable I concentrated on it, I aim to change tack in 2021 and concentrate on hours of activity, 10 per week as a minimum.

Well in Jan last year I put a number of rides down on my notes in the phone.Having been off the bike for various reasons,it was going to be my year.I also joined a club.Mrs P also said I could ride Sundays instead of going to church.Well after a coup!e of rides,44 miles being the furthest and feeling great,Covid and that was it,plus the lump.So what happens this year.Well I have ignored the lump this week and I am exercising .When the better weather comes I will get insurance cover from British Cycling,as I have dumped ctc.And I will start so over again.Sorry to say I think covid is going to be around a while yet.But cycling on your own will be ok.Not sure about coffee stops though.

Same one as every year:
To climb Snake Pass in under 20 minutes
I never achieve it but why should 2021 be any different?
Out of interest what's your best time?
Do you class the climb as the Kinder Velo Hill climb or is yours shorter/longer?

I've just checked and I last rode from the Glossop side was in 2015:ohmy: It was whilst doing the 'High Peak Hog' sportive. My time was 26 mins.I did the first half in 09:49 so not sure what went wrong:laugh:

I will never understand that.

You like me have a pretty casual and utilitarian attitude to cycling. If I'm in the mood and the weather isn't too horrible, I'll go for a ride. If I don't feel like it I won't. In 2020, by my standards I did a lot of miles in the summer. This year I will probably do less miles than last year. I'm not going to set myself a hard target, then force myself to ride just to hit that number. I probably did about 2,500 miles in 2020. 2,000-ish for 2021 would be nice, but I'm planning on spending more time drinking and socialising and that is going to take priority over clocking up miles just so I can say I've ridden x amount. Maintaining some level of fitness and a stable weight will do for me. Speed and distance is unimportant.

I was thinking along the lines of a few microadventures and regular riding getting me to about a thousand miles this year, but I have a naturally restricted riding season from March to November/December usually, due to snow and ice.

I use the Kinder Velo HC strava segment (roughly the Royal Oak where the steep part starts and the top). Best time is 21.30. Really I've got zero chance unless I lost a lot of weight.

High Peak Hog is a great (but very hard) sportive so you sensibly took it steady up the Snake

I haven't got any goals, more a wishlist of things I'd like to try and achieve if I get the chance, Covid permitting. Admittedly my wishlist is a tad too long to get it all done this year but I'll try and do what I can.

In no particular order.
-Cycle from Worthing to Holyhead.
-Cycle from Worthing to Edinburgh.
-Walk the old way from Southampton to Canterbury.
-Walk from Worthing to Glastonbury; maybe push on from there into Bristol via Wells & the Mendip hills.
-A week away somewhere with my wife.
-Meet up with family again.
-Join the Illuminate.
