I genuinely think this is somewhat the case. I think both his raw watts as well as his W/kg must be (considerably) lacking compared to Pogacar, Vingegaard and maybe even del Toro. While obviously still being a phenomenal rider and incredible talent. He has found a way through aero to be elite despite putting out lower power, but the moment the aero benefit falls away, the drop off is significant.I cant really understand his TT superiority and his crap climbing abilities (relatively).
Im guessing, he's perfected such a low CDA TT position it overcomes his lack of Watts.
Soon as he's less aero he becomes less competitive against the best climbers

There have been a lot of occasions over the years of him cracking on really tough climbs, while still destroying TT monsters like Ganna, Küng or Tarling or gaining massive time on GC rivals in the ITT only to give it up on the climbs.
