Just rewatching yesterday's Faun-Ardèche Classic 2026. Seixas has a pretty unique physiology. He's 6ft and weighs 64kg. He probably wasn't competing with the best field but how good is he going to be when he's 21? Not sure what kind of rider he'll be but going to win big.

Reposted from other (spring classics) thread
Roman Gregoire just hangs on to take the win in the Faun Drome Classic. Breakaway companion Jorgensen takes second just ahead of a fast chasing peleton.

Today's Beobank Samyn Ladies race. The finish features a gradual uphill slope to the finish and was decisively won by Ireland's Lara Gillespie from a small breakaway group. Team mate Elynor Backstedt helped to set her up perfectly.

Le Samyn is a Van race

Nineteen surnames beginning with Van (including the Vandersomethings)
Three DSs that are Vans
One team that's a Van

There's also a Sylvan, but I didn't count him.

And not one but two van Sintmaartensdijks. I didn't know there was more than one.

I would now like to know the highest number of vans in a race in modern times for each level race

There were 9 van riders in the 2022 Tour de France https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/fantasy-tdf-2022.286188/page-3#post-6769161

I made a theoretical fantasy team of them. It was rubbish: https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/fantasy-tdf-2022.286188/page-4#post-6777776

The top van from the last ten editions of the Tour
Only one has cracked the top twenty (twice, just) and only one has got within an hour of the winner (57:02) - yes it's van Aert

32 Van Wilder Ilan Soudal Quick-Step 2:23:14
26 Van Wilder Ilan Soudal Quick-Step 1:54:30
42 van Baarle Dylan Jumbo-Visma 2:46:05
21 van Aert Wout Jumbo-Visma 1:35:55
19 van Aert Wout Team Jumbo-Visma 57:02
20 van Aert Wout Team Jumbo-Visma 1:20:31
36 Van Avermaet Greg CCC Team 1:27:56
28 Van Avermaet Greg BMC Racing Team 1:10:14
58 Van Avermaet Greg BMC Racing Team 2:19:14
29 van Garderen Tejay BMC Racing Team 1:12:06

Van Avermaet is the only rider to have beaten a Car - Damiano Caruso who finished below him in '19.
Caruso was the fastest car for a long time, and then came Tadej PogaČar

Sorry not sorry, but I'll get my coat anyway

Le Samyns Men's race - the lone breakaway rider (Per Strand Hagenes) was reeled in with a couple of hundred meters to go with the subsequent sprint being won by Jordi Meeus from Laurenz Rex and Hugo Hofstetter. Wout van Aert's chances were spoiled by unfortunate bike changes with 9km to go and just trying to get back to the peloton.
No vans in the top ten.

Vuelta Ciclista a Extremadura Femenina. Today's opening stage is a 18km time trial in a miserable wet day in western Spain. Current leader is Mackenzie Coupland (Liv AIUla Jayco)

Vuelta Ciclista a Extremadura Femenina. With the last breakaway closed down in the last 10km, a subsequent bunch sprint was won by Chiara Consonni from Elisa Balsamo and Ally Wollaston. Safely in the bunch, Zoe Backstedt maintains her race lead going into tomorrow's third and final stage.

Vuelta Ciclista a Extremadura Femenina. A good day for small breakaways. Mackenzie Coupland beats Lauren Dickson in a two up sprint and with her win also takes the overall classification.
