Finucane made a disastrous move to lose 2-0 to Liying YUAN, who takes the gold in the sprint.

Yuan was the strongest throughout the competition so Finucane might have been a touch desperate for a tactic that might work, she dive-bombed inside Yuan with two laps left but didn't get anywhere near enough gap and was left well behind entering the final straight.

Last race of the day will be the bronze decider between Capewell and Mina Sato from Japan

Congrats to @red.rider on his prediction of a tight and exciting contest with Kopecky and Balsamo (we won't mention Weibes who crashed out). It was indeed very tight between them...

Of course MyWoman™ Amalie Dideriksen* should have been remembered, and Anna Morris as well, especially as she was reigning European champion already....

*she's actually local to me and I saw her in her road race rainbows once as I got off the bus on the way back from work - I thought "typical, people riding around in stuff they haven't earned" followed by "Oh!"

For any other Amalie Dideriksen fans out there, she'll also be riding the madison tomorrow and the points on Sunday.
Joy for Amalie fans globally.

Even more interesting is that in the madison (Olympic silver, WC gold & two bronze, Euros two golds, a sliver and a bronze) she's partnered with 18 year old supertalent Ida Dam Fialla. If you don't follow Jnr women's track or road cycling it's unlikely you'll know her but.... te's just say it was an impressive 2025

Of course, in 2023, aged just 14, she won the points, elimination and scratch races at the Danish championships.
Senior, not junior or u23, though admittedly not a stacked field.

On the road she's triple Danish Jnr TT champ, last year she was also Jnr RR champ. This season she's won a handful of Danish and Dutch Nat level races

GB take the women's madison comfortably, so strong. The only moment of doubt was when they missed a change while taking their lap with France, luckily there were some stragglers to break the wind for them a bit. France second, Japan third.

Denmark took te final sprint but it was only enough to move up to fifth. A superb debut for the 18yr old Ida Dam Fialla though, absolutely emptying it in the final laps.

Hobbs takes the elimination in the omnium - brilliantly ridden.
Teutenberg cheeky to eliminate leader Iúri Leitão into third - looked like he'd given up so Leitão eased off and then Teutenberg surged past him on the outside

Leitão wins the omnium comfortably, Belgium's Fabio Van den Bossche in second and Germany's Tim Torn Teutenberg in third.

Leitão is lying on the track sobbing

Hobbs was unable to make any impact, gained just 2 points the entire race, may have done too much in the elimination, finishes sixth.
Denmark's Tobias Hansen took the final sprint with a long late attack to jump a few places up to 7th and gain some Olympic qualifying points. That's the third points (including madison) race I've seen where a Dane nicks the final sprint as a consolation!
