I am restoring a 1989 Specialized Rock Combo with a problem. The aluminum seatpost is frozen in the steel frame. The seat is currently at the correct height for me. However, the seat is misaligned a few degrees to the left. The seat clamp is a Strong brand and is also frozen inside the seat post.
I am looking for a seat clamp that fits the outside diameter of the existing post and accommodates the rails of a Brooks M17 saddle. The specs for the Rock Combo say the seat post is 26.4 mm which I assume is OD. I find several clamps for 7/8" post but none for 26.4/1".
Any suggestions will be much appreciated. If I can find a clamp that fits, I plan to cut the Strong base off even with the top of the seat post.
I'm new at bike mechanics, so if this is a stupid idea let me know. Thank you.
