I have inadvertently around a 32 death chain ring and at the moment I have a 30 tooth.
1) if I changed it would the chain be suitable or would it need to be longer.
i am looking at changing the chain ring to an ovel chain ring what are the pros and cons
I have a hard tail and a road but that's a +2
any advice would be appreciated
TIA

All uphill

Still rolling along
That depends.

What bike?
What rear derailleur? Does it have the capacity to cope with the bigger cassette?
1 chainring or two? If two, what size are they? 50/34?
A photo of the bike side on , with the biggest chainring and biggest cog would help us advise.

Oval chainrings have come and gone over the years. If there are any benefits, which I doubt, they are almost certainly miniscule.

I've taken the liberty of 'rephrasing' your OP.
1) No. You don't say whether this is an inner of a triple or a sub-compact, but it doesn't matter.
2) Suggest doing your own research will be gazillions better that asking CycleChatters.
Type:
"What are the pros and cons of oval chain rings"
into the engine and take it from there.
Come back with a list of pros and cons to demonstrate that you are actually interested in this. That will give 'us' something to chew on.

To the Q: "if I changed [from a 30t chain ring to 32t) would the chain be suitable or would it need to be longer."
This is not a 1x, is it? Who has a 30t single chainring?
Edited:
So is that "yes, it's suitable" or "yes, it'd need to be longer"
I guess the OP's (ill-phrased) question may have generated your answer.

If this chainring is an inner (that is you have a larger one as well) then NO, you don't need a longer chain.
As I said in my original answer - and I specified the Q I was answering.
I suggest @Punkawallah is saying 'yes' the chain is suitable (agree!).
