Gravity was fun, lovely Earth vistas and stunning SFX. A few plot holes, but otherwise an enjoyable romp. 3D gave it a good depth-of-field, but it'll probably look equally good in 2D. I liked the long opening shot, going on for ages. Kubrick would have been proud.

let us know what you think of gravity in 3d.

I finally went to see it and it was fantastic, I'd certainly recommend it if for the Cinematogrophy, I mean, it looked amazing!!

There are a few things left unexplained as if it really had just happened, and the way it is filmed reflects this, even down to the fact that what you hear is what the characters hear through their suits and so on, none of this 'Space has to have a noise' nonsense (except for the film music of course).
There is a bit of artistic licence involved with it all and shows an alternative future with the Shuttle still flying and a certain up and coming country with a bigger presence in Space, yes, but who cares?
That said, if I only had 2% oxygen in my spacesuit, the last thing I'd be doing would be talking, regardless of whether it was to George Clooney!

Also, I am SO glad that it wasn't an all American affair with America saving the day, rather, it illustrates the value of international collaboration in Space with an eye on events in recent years (even though it was the fault of the Russians in the first place).

A great indicator that I like a film happened, I sat through the credits to find out more about it. Turns out it was shot at Shepperton and Arizona.

I'll have to see it again now!

Like yourself, RedRider, Gravity was the first film we saw in 3D. I wasn't sure what to expect of the glasses, but being a space theme, it seemed the ideal one to make it our first - and very good the 3D effect was too.

So on the whole, I think if it's used in films where the subject matter lends itself to grand landscapes, then 3D really 'adds a dimension' [sorry for the pun!] to the experience and you find yourself saying 'Wow! - Look at that!' about the effects on screen as well as commenting about the storyline.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
There are so many arguements for and against. Some say it's good, some say it's bad. Its a case of you pay your money and makes your choice. I have heard that soon you won't need any glasses. And of course there is now 4k tv is it. ?

things change so much and so fast over even 12 months, that its hard to keep up. I don't think I will bother. I'm just gonna sit on the fence and see what happens and what new innovations they come up with. Plus the fact I am quite happy with my hd tv. It does everything I want it to do.

I've seen a number of films in 3D now. Animations seem to benefit most, but only where they have been designed with 3D in mind. I saw the Lion King which had been retro 3D'd, and it was disappointing.

Gravity is well worth seeing in 3D though.

I can't see 3D effects. I have a "lazy eye" - I do have useful vision in it, but I think my brain tunes most of the stuff it gets from that eye out. Or something. Anyway, I have to wear the glasses otherwise things look weird, but when my boyfriend described the 3D effect I just said "nope, I don't see that at all".
Therefore I prefer not to waste money on something I can't see!

I also have a lazy eye, which is useless. It's like seeing a Picasso painting all the time. But the cartoon films i have seen have beeb good.Without the glasses everything looks kind of fuzzy with purple edges.http://www.sapergalleries.com/PicassoEva.jpg.thats what i sort of see wiyh my squinty eye.the op early in the year was not a success and i might be having another go sometime in the future. But the sight will never be corrected.
