I always prefer to bunnyhop at 50 MPH on hairpin bends. Much smoother experience.
And don't forget cattlegrids! (totallyfixed and I jumped over this one at high speed.)

I assume you're talking about a penny farthing, us not having a section for road bikes on here an'all. Best bet is to take the brakes off the bike altogether so you're more areo & lighter & it saves the namby pamby notion of going anywhere near them. All you need do is pop open your waistcoat and use it as a parachute brake, if you need more stopping, unbutton the bottom of your plus fours and hold your cap open like a butterfly net until you reach a reasonable dismounting speed, say 25-30 mph, then simply hop off and catch the mounting peg as it goes by.

I've been worrying about your predicament for nearly 20 seconds now since reading this thread and I think I may be able to give you a few pointers that help.
  1. I think you probably have a case of S.H.I.Ts (Severe Hold Induced Tremors). You need to chill out and loosen up. 50 is just a number and you really don't want to be clinging to your bike for grim life (although don't relax your hold too much because doing 50mph without the bike probably won't end well!).
  2. I suggest you try it again. Only this time, let go your conscious self and act on instinct. Your eyes can deceive you. Don't trust them. Stretch out with your feelings! You can do it.
  3. Your choice of music is all wrong. To maintain concentration and inner peace you really should have this going round in your head...

Here for rides.
One of the joys of riding a new bike, or riding an old one loaded up, is trying to find the edge of the stability envelope when the speed wobbles kick in. My Brompton does such violent tank-slappers above 42mph that I've never pushed through to find out at what speed it smooths out.

The new Genesis has yet to manifest this though I've not yet gone faster than 43mph on it and I've not given the Jamis enough beans yet to to get near a death-wobble.

As any fule kno shifting your weight forwards, whilst counter-intuitive, will dampen the oscillations and let you speed through the zone of terror.

I think you just need to do some surgery on your bike... Problem with these up-wrong mobile torture devices is they tend to become less stable with speed. Proper bikes tend to become more stable with speed.
